crleap, I think that you have it backwards. I have always noticed a decided bias in AT's reviews against AMD and against NVidia graphics products. Tom's has rarely shown the same bias.

And to think I was going to recommend the Samsung 213t :Q I've been using it for six months now and love it (I liked the image quality better than the Dell).... at $1,100 it is definately sticker shock.[/quote]

The 213T is really a sweet piece of gear. I have had one for about a year now, and I love it for games, regular computer use, everything.

I vote for THG. AT rarely does reviews on displays, while THG does a lot and does them in more details. I bought the 2001FP 3 weeks ago and ended up returning it and I find I agree with THG more than the AT review. Now I got an acer with hydis panel which was best rated by THG and I am happy with the gaming performance.

A number of 2001FP issues that bothered me and prompted the return (note: I used it only for 3 days, around 4hrs/day)
1. grainiess of screen, not sure it's the "screen door effect" many talked about. But it's like there is a very thin layer of moist on the screen, making you want to clean it.
2. I found it poor at differentiating close black levels (compared to the Acer), I have to set brightness fairly high to see different levels of black. The problem is it's so bright it hurts my eyes. On the Acer, I set brightness low (30 on 0-100 scale), yet I can still get good "black level" contrast. I used digital scenery photos and the lacie testing photo for this purpose.
3. Poor movie play (I played Matrix and Black Hawk Down). The colors are not life like (but this maybe be true for most LCD's?). And there're noticable flickering at solid color areas which bothered me alot.
4. Gaming (only played UT2004). No noticable ghosting that I could see. But I did get headaches after playing for awhile. And I never get headaches with the Acer. So there must be a difference on the motion.

Hope this help.

Can you adjest the contrast on the 2001FP when it is hooked up digitally through DVI port? This is what really bothers me about my 2000FP. When it is hooked up digitally, you can't adjust the contrast from the dell controls.

Why would you WANT to adjust the contrast with DVI? The signal's digital; there's nothing to adjust!

You don't know what you're talking about. You cant adjust using the dell button. You can only adjust the source, by going to the display control panel.

I need it to calibrate my monitor for Photoshop and for printing purposes.

Yes, you can adjust contrast when using DVI. Just go to display properties.

How 'bout you review the Samsung 243t?

I'd like to see this too. Although I wouldn't be able to buy one for a while... my 213T was expensive enough!

Do you play FPS? I'm worried HL2 and Doom3 will not be as good on the Dell as on a solid CRT. According to the reviews, it doesn't seem to handle Halo very well.

If you can afford one, Sasmung 213T... check out Kristopher's review!!!!. I have this monitor and play Battlefield 1942 (desert combat mod) quite a bit. If I really look I can see slight ghosting. Your eyes adjust and you can't see it at all after a couple minutes unless you force yourself to look for it. Great, bright monitor!!!
