I'm moving across the country soon, so I figured now would be a good time to get a premium GPS app for the drive and until I learn the area. Both tomtom and Navigon are on sale at 50% off or more, and I bought the Navigon one.
The common gripe between the two seems to be just how long they take to boot and such. Not exactly what you want when you want to search for something quick. When you want quick, you use the built in google GPS and give up what the premium apps can offer.
However, there's a Cydia app I found called 'navigate from maps' which inserts a button into the google app that allows you to bring the address you're viewing instantly into the tomtom or navigon apps. That way you can search quickly with google maps, then if you decide you need turn-by-turn directions you can get those immediately as well.
It's not free, but at only $2 I feel it should be worth it for how slick it feels. Just thought I'd share as I'm sure some of you might find it useful too.
