Unfortunately this is a rather silly statement as the routing table is basically just that...a database of IP addresses and how to get there as a next-hop. It would have made more sense to say "I saw the load on the router CPUs"

Also, the whole idea of Nuclear power stations being exposed to the internet, even behind a very robust firewall, is ludicrous from a security standpoint. As the poster earlier mentioned, there are numerous backup systems and I suspect any remote-control capability would be via secure private lines or encrypted RF channels, not the Internet backbone. But, it is entertainment and otherwise is a well-executed show, so much more intelligent than the CRAP reality TV that is invading all the networks these days.

Ludicrous perhaps, but sadly correct (except the robust firewall part). Evidence suggests the true cause of the northeast blackout of 2003 was MS Blaster. The SCADA system that the power grids use to request more/less power from each other works through DCOM, so they can't just block the RPC ports.

Heh... man 24 is really setting itself up for charges of discrimination. First people accused them of making arabic people terrorists in their shows, now they have set a precedent of backstabbing evil black women. I can't wait to see the reaction of the hyper sensitive PC people.

Hm, on further review, they have also had a good number of evil backstabbing white women. Maybe it's just misogyny.

You seem to be forgetting the device straight out of sneakers. They basically mentioned that this device exists in order to control a power plant in case of some emergency. Obviously they would need to be able to use the device remotely. Therefore it all makes sense as long as you buy the macguffin.

I wonder if there is a doctors forum out there where every week they get together and laugh at the butchery of medical terms on Scrubs or ER.

but last nite was my first time watching 24, and controlling a power plant remotely via internet? come on...

I am just saying we need to practice suspension of disbelief when watching ER. Sure, us computer geeks know the premise is impossible but it's all entertainment.

Better medical shows are House and Medical Investigation. You can learn some interesting facts too.

I just watched it right now and I was rather impressed. I could have just seen the first ten minutes and been happy for the rest of the week. That was intense and just beyond cool.

On another note you fools talking about the security of a nuclear power plant and what not are being some anal retentive unimaginative morons. As part of the plot the CEO guy of that company did mention it was a *new* device that the DoD requested to be manufactured, so of course there is nothing like that in real life. Get over yourselves.

The Marianne being a mole thing really disappointed me, however I hope there is a twist. If there is, though, it would be just like last season when Guile (sp?) was a double agent.

There is NO way this is a simple "mole" story. That is for sure. We thought that in Season 3 with Gayal (sp), and it turned out to be somethign else, right? I think they are trying to make her hateable, but she's really not that bad. I dunno tho, I could be wrong.

It just doesn't seem like they would stick a mole in the mix, after they did that already. (Season 1)

Eh... it's never been a "simple mole story". They always have written something one week and then totally changed their minds the next week. 24 has mastered the art of the red herring. Sometimes I think it knows how absurd the red herring tactic is and it is actually making fun of it. But then I realize that about half the shows out there use the tactic these days. Any "investigation" show, such as house and the new numbers, does it all the time.

Finally saw the show. The first 10 minutes was friggin' intense!

As for Marianne being the mole, there's definitely gotta be more to it. I nearly crapped my pants when they had the Gael 'true colors' episode last season. I totally didn't see that one coming.

Of course, we've now seen the straight up mole and a reverse mole. What else can they do, except maybe a reverse reverse backspace mole?

Maybe Marianne will pull off her face and reveal that she's really Nina, bulletholes and all?

I sure hope this is the case. The last thing this show needs is *ANOTHER* mole in CTU. I turned it off last year because of that. Well, that and it seemed every character was in a love story.
