No, a double agent is if he worked for CTU, and the Salazar's thought he was helping him. He is a triple agent because he is a worker for CTU, bought by the Salazars, who is playing the Salazar's.

But isn't that what he is doing (the double agent thing?) On the first level, he works for CTU. On the second level, he is supposedly spying for the Salazars. This would make him just a regular spy. On the third level, it turns out that he is actually working for CTU, thus making him a double agent. For him to be a triple agent, there would have to be a fourth level, with the end result being that he is spying on CTU for the Salazars.

Wow didn't see that sh!t coming. Can't wait for next week when they actually explain how that sh!t works though. But the whole Tony getting shot in the neck is just horsesh!t though. He wouldn't even wake up that fast from minor general anesthesia, much less a heavy dosage for surgery.

my completely wild guess is... both Tony and Gael (correct spelling as per "closed captions") aren't really CTU agents, they're both working for CIA (both have Langley connections - Tony tried to get a job there in e01 and Gael is former CIA, already explained) and those 2 plus Jack have some secret plan they're in the midst of hatching... which involves bringing down the entire Salazar clan, not just one brother.

well, maybe they all are CTU, but in this case they're doing something for CIA. don't think CTU has jurisdiction outside of US, so must be CIA territory. then again, its a fake agency so who knows.

and wtf... where's Zim.... this thread sucks without Zim.

BTW: The fact that its a CIA operation might explain why Chappelle had no idea WTF was going on. so i'll stick with my little theory. Since Season 1, Chapelle has always been Top Dog at CTU so its a bit strange that he'd be in the dark on such a major operation. But if its a CIA op, he's not really a participant.

So i guess the whole bioterror threat thing was a trick?

I can definately see that - especially with Chappelle being in the dark, and the bio threat. I wonder if Salazar killing his lawyer in episode 1 was a part of it too.....

Definitely did not see it coming that Gayelle was a triple agent. Too bad he didn't kill kim. And now dumb fvck chase is gonna go down there & Jack's gonna have to kill him, but he won't b/c Kim loves him and Jack will try to save him instead for his daughter.

If it is a CIA plot, which sounds reasonable, then why was there that conversation with President Palmer and Jack, where Jack tells the President about his plan to free Salazar? Meaning that if it was indeed a CIA plot, the President would or should have approved it beforehand, so that phone call about what's happening would be unnecesary.

They did one big plot twist and I am quite pleased with it.

I suppose it's possible that Tony is doing something for the CIA, but CTU is part of the CIA, I'm pretty sure. I'm fairly certain that that was in the book about the legal proceedings following the first episode.

All I know is that I'm quite thoroughly confused after watching tonight's episode.

obviously, if the president knew, then jack and palmer wouldnt have had that conversation. and the president wouldnt have given the ok to shoot jack down.

or jack and gayelle are both triple agents working for the mexicans and $50M. they conned Tony into believing about the bio threat to get aboard. but when his usefullness was over, they tried to kill him. and how the heck does a bullet thru the neck not SERIOUSLY hurt someone?

the bullet missed 2 major veins, windpipe + spinal cord when it went thru the neck???!

The Salazar's are Columbian, they only recently got that place in Mexico to be closer to the captured brother and plan his escape...

Why would the CIA want Jack back in with the Salazar's? Is there some other threat that we don't yet know about?
