Not too crap on your post (too much), but you should research a bit before posting. This DLP is top notch.

Indeed....do some reseach before you make statements like that. This TV kicks ass, just go read the threads on the woot.com forums....hundreds of people can't be wrong, lol.

Well... I will let the hundreds of people can't be wrong comment go...

I suggest doing some quick looks on www.avsforum.com before buying anything audio/video related. For the most part, you will get some good ideas on things.

I would use AVSForum and CNET as a barometer on any TV's quality more so then I would woot.com.

I have seen the Infocus, in the store... and it is not what you might think. In the case of TV's size is not more important than quality. Read the read up on CNET...

Sometimes when stuff hits the Woot.com site, its for a reason.

Not sure what your problem is? You think we just buy anything? Anyone with half a brain googles any major purchase. Apparently, you DID NOT read CNET and AVS Forums before bashing this TV. Let me make it easy for you:

Apparently you statement "Not sure what your problem is" is so true. You are not sure what my problem is, or even if I have a problem...
YOU spent time, running around and dragging up reviews because you thought I was being objective...

The review from CNET is not a review... it is a preview... apparently the TV did not make their review list... read some more buddy...

Alot of the posters to the AVSFORUM site state that the TV had less than impressive PQ. One of the posters was a salesman at TVAUTHORITY.com

So I have read all of the links that you provided, except for the WOOT ones (Not enuff time, but will read them later.

No where in my postings to this thread did you ever see me BASH the TV or the original starter of this thread.... I have not inserted my opinion yet, but now I will do so.
These TV's, are not very good in PQ. The fact that the TV is the sister to the RCA model does not bode well either.

Any and almost all associations with RCA equipment should be and almost is like the "Kiss of Death" in regards RPTV's. I know I will get a lot of folks responding to this thread, stating that they, or their mom's and grandpops have an RCA TV that works fine, or was the best TV that they ever had... I have a 31 inch CRT that I have had since my first year of marriage, that has been through 2 moves and 3 kids, and just now is starting to have the sound go out (going on 6 years of marriage). But the fact still remains, many on AVSFORUMs believe RCA to be of a lower quality. You will not see RCA forsale in a Magnolia store or in Barney Miller's here in Ky...

That being said, the Sound and Video Review of the RCA model seemed good. The guy gave it glowing remarks, but I saw the Infocus TV in the local Peirats store here in Lexington, Ky, and it looked like junk eventhough it was hung on a wall. The PQ was not what I would expect if I was paying 3-5000.00 for a TV. But its wealth of features (Firewire, Ethernet, web browser, HDMI, Cable Card) should make up for some of that. I alluded to the fact that you get what you paid for, in both of posts. BUt I never stated how good or how bad the TV was.
If someone were to ask me, would you buy the Infocus model above offerings from Toshiba, Panasonic, or Mitsubish, I would dell them "no".
For that price, you can buy a 1080p model from Samsung or Toshiba.

If you are buying this TV because it is 61 inches and can hang on the wall... Make sure that is your primary goal... If you are buying this TV because you want something with AWESOME PQ... don't get it.

Thanks for the links to AVSFORUM... as you can see...no one is really in love with this TV, and that is what it will take... They say love covers a multitude of Sins... Apparently the cheap price, the size, and thinness of this TV has caused many a person to fall in love with it. But if you notice, if it was a real High Quality TV with HQ picture, many would have bought it and there would be many of comments about it before it dropped in price.

I have a Mitsubishi 52525. I just bought it 3 weeks ago (well, really it was an exchange for the Toshiba 52hm95 which had more features, but terrible picture with HD4 DLP chip) . It has the best Picture (once again read CNET and Sound and Vision Magazine reviews) that a DLP can have for a 720p unit. It has a wealth of features. I miss the TV Guide on Screen, but it is awesome to look at. So nice, that my wife just was continually amazed when we were watching HD Discovery last night...

Now that is a good TV.... and I bought it for $2100.00 from Best Buy because like the Infocus it was on sale after being sold for over a year...

Unfortunately, I cannot get my cable to card to work, so I might be returning it for the Mitsubishi RP LCD model, which looks almost just as good, and does have the TVGOS...

trust me buddy, I have done a tone of reading and research on all of these TV's and Technologies, and although I can still stand to learn a little more, I have just enough knowledge to make a good purchasing decision.

I buy TV's quite often, keep them for a while until I tire of them, or find something better, then donate them to local charities, or organizations. I purchased two of these inFocus sets and have since donated them to two different retirement homes in my area. Sometimes I drop by watch sporting events, or movies with the senior citizens. I am of the opinion that the inFocus TV's are very nice with exceptional PQ.

I am now intrigued by this JVC set and would like to check one out in person. Does anyone know if these are available at any B&M chains?

Thanks.

Maybe because 1080p sells for $5000+?

umm no

you can get a 61" samsung dlp that does 1080p for only $4499.99 and that is retail you can obviously find it below that if you look. also the samsungs look better than the infocus units do. i am probably going for the 50" samsung for 3000.00 thoughi am not sure the 11" is worth all that extra

Like SLEEPER5555 said, they are not all $5000.00
The best of the non-professional grade equipment would be Mitsubishi's offerings, and you can get those for under $4000.00 ($3300-3800) off the web from some of the biggest web retailers...
