Yeah, I was looking at the pcmag review and it does appear different.

PC Magazine 61MD10 review.

The biggest "con" seems to be a relatively poor contrast ratio - and the fact that it is a 720p HDTV.

Hey i'd take 720p over 1080i any day, although I can't comment on how hot or cold this is

UGH i am having such a hard time guys please help me.... i will definitely get a tv within the next couple of days and then this pops up.... i hear that the contrast ratio is worse than some tvs.... if size is not really too much of an issue .... do you think it's better than most tvs with this technology out there (not putting size into the equation) that are aroudn 3 grand?

There have been some nice deal lately on DLP TV, too bad they're all over my budget.

I didn't see any mention of whether or not the one HDMI input supports HDCP. In fact, having only one HDMI input looks to be a pretty big negative in light of the push by media companies for HD content to be HDCP-protected. The component inputs will, of course, work but will probably be downsampled to 480 lines.

How is the rebate going to work on this? The rebate specifically says in big capitalized letters that only authorized retailers are eligible. I'm pretty sure that woot.com isn't an authorized retailer for infocus dlp tvs.

neither is a "con" at all. read this article about 720p vs 1080i before making such statements.

Well, to me HD broadcasts look better in 1080i than 720p.

And how is a poor contrast ratio not a con?

Surprisingly, Woot really is an authorized retailer for many of their products, especially the higher-priced products.

Grrrrr - I need a new DLP set, and this is well within my price range, but I haven't moved into my new house yet, and I'm not going to take delivery of a ginormous TV, then leave it sitting in an empty house for a month or two. This seems like a killer deal, but it may actually be TOO big for my comfort anyway . . .

EDIT: Sweet merciful crap! Apparently the Infocus floor stand for this behemoth costs $1,018!

Guys,

I want to pounce on this but the only thing that concerns me is the 500 dollar lamps that you have to replace every 4000 hours... that would be one every 2 years or so for me.
Any opinions on this?
