I don't think this unit plays burned dvd's full of mp3's and that's a major deal breaker for me.

If you want to play DVD's full of burned MP3's the only unit I'm aware of (that isn't $700+) is the JVC Giga-mp3 ready units. The 2 models I'm familiar with are the JVC 5100 and the JVC Arsenal 6100, I originally purchased the 5100 but was pissed off to find it only had a SINGLE RCA output, so as soon as the 6100 was available I upgraded to it.

I'm not aware of any other "affordably" priced unit that will play burned DVD's of mp3s on the market, and the last time woot had these units I did some research on them hoping they DID play mp3s on dvd because after riding around in my truck having nearly 5 gigs of mp3s on one disk my wife wanted a similar system REALLY bad.

She's getting my old 5100 on Tuesday along with a headrest mounted 7" screen for my kid so he can watch dvd's on longer trips.

If I'm wrong someone please speak up but I'm pretty sure this system doesn't play burned DVD mp3 disks. And I figure most anyone buying this would "assume" it does.

PDF of the manual . Just skimmed through it, quote:

NOTE: This unit recognizes MP3s recorded on either CD-R or CD-RW discs, with support for multi-session as well.. The unit will not play MP3 encoded DVD-R discs. Only use CD-R or CD-RW for MP3 recording.

So don't buy it if you think you're gonna burn 4 gigs of MP3's to a DVD and listen to them, ain't happening sorry.

It's still a pretty darn nice system for the money but without the ability to play dvd's chock fulla mp3's I don't have much use for it.

Wow... super deal-killer...

It's amazing to me that w00t.com went through the trouble of pointing out how the unit plays MP3's encoded on "writable discs", but neglected to say that it doesn't apply to burned DVDs... :thumbsdown:

It's almost enough to make me want to avoid any future high-end w00t deals for fear of being misled...

Wonder how many people bought this thinking they were gonna burn a dvd full of mp3 goodness and play that in their car? Hope not too many else there's liable to be a few pissed off buyers
