Tons of mosquito bites- Any way to get rid of them?

I went fishing yesterday and we forgot to bring the bug spray. So, I now have hundreds of bites all over my arms and legs. Yes, it was pretty stupid of me. My dad and brother who went along did not get nearly as many bites as I did for some reason. Anyway, does anybody know of anything I can use to get rid of them quickly? The itching doesnt really bother me much, but I dont want to be walking around looking like a diseased person for the next few days. Ive heard saliva works.

Calamine lotion should dry them out quickly, but you'll look like a pink polkadotted leopard.

Isnt that just for the itching though? I just want them to be invisible.

I went to the driving range tonight and I litteraly had a cloud of mosquitoes around me. I had to leave the last dozen balls... I'd had enough.

Five beers later and I feel fine. I highly recommend alcohol (taken internally - not topically) to ease your discomfort.

Topical steroids are pretty much the best practical response. Get the highest concentration of hydrocortisone that you can find over the counter. If you really, really care, you might be able to bug a doctor into giving you something stronger; but I wouldn't advise that.

If medicine fails, you might need to look into cosmetics; but that is outside of my department.

If you're talking about the physical bumps from mosquito bites... NOTHING gets rid of them except time. Give it three or four days and you'll be fine.

Yeah, thats the problem. Theyre just all over and I just dont want people looking at me all weird and running away from me lol. People think I'm diseased or something. But I guess I'll just have to bear with it. Theyre not really itching as much as I thought they would be. So I dont really have a problem there.

Stop getting them, and if you want to stop getting them, either stop breathing or breath into something that will make the CO2 not be around...

You probably know this but a reminder: 'whatever you do, don't scratch them with fingernails.' Leaves horrible marks.

Just don't touch them at all if you can (read: don't scratch, even if it itches). They usually aren't visible by morning. At least it works for me.

old post but i put an X on as many as I can with my fingernail and then hit them with some calamine lotion...........


of course they usually don't last much more than a day anyway provided you don't scratch them........

Ah, put the calamine on as soon as you get off work and let it stay until you have to go out or go back to work.
Wash off re-apply often as needed.
That will take away the itch, reduce the welts, and aid in healing.

I know, I'm quite allergic to insect bites! I'm still struggling with some mosquito bites and 3 tick bites from >3 weeks ago.
The mosquito bites are nearly gone, but the tick bites are still very bad.

The bumps are due to a natural response of the body to get more blood and thus more immune system cells into the area. I bet that if the mosquitos were carrying some disease, getting rid of the bumps medically probably increases your chance of contracting the disease. One of the side effects listed for a steroid cream I was prescribed once was "lack of healing of skin condition", so the reduced flow to the area probably interferes with healing as well.

EDIT: I'm allergic to mosquito bites, so they swell up quite large. I have one on each hand, on the webbing between my thumb and index finger. That made it interesting when writing my exams...
