I really pitied him b/c his job seemed so soulless but one day I was listening to some pbs radio game show and he called in and he seemed like such a nice, normal guy. The interviewer gave him a lot of crap (its PBS) and he took it with lots of class and stuck around and enjoyed the game. He seemed like a down-to-earth guy stuck with a shitty job (not the whole Karl Rove a-hole thing), and a lot of people are in that situation imo. It could have been just a good performance though, although with Cheney's wife was on the same show, it was obvious she was full of it.

It's not like he was 'stuck' with a shitty job, he chose to take it. He's also been a far right wing talking head for years. (Which is one of the reasons why GWB chose him to begin with) He seemed like a decent guy to me too, but that doesn't change the reality of what he was.

We should not forget he left behind a wife and three children. They deserve all our sympathy regardless of what we thought about Tony. I was only half right about why Tony left the White House, I knew he left because he needed to make more money, but PJ was right, he left to work for CNN and not Fox news. And anytime one has a cancer in remission, one has to know it can come back much worse at any time, but I think even Tony Snow did not know how little time he had left to help his family. So if nothing else, I can remember him as a good family man and that is one priority he had right.

Yeah that's true, you can't get that job without wanting it badly I guess.

I can't wait until the libs celebrate Fidel Castro's death because he brought free Universal Healthcare to his people.

Does anyone seriously believe he's even still alive?

I'm sorry for his loss, and this is sure going to sound cold, but screw it.

Can we expect another week of Canonization like we had with Russert? The media sure gets all full of themselves when one of their own dies.

I thought he was great as a news anchor. He always seemed like a class act. It's always sad when anyone's life gets cut short.

As are all Presidential Press Secretaries.

While I didn't agree with what he said or what he stood for, he came across as a decent sort of person.

THIS is a respectful comment from someone who disagreed with Tony.

heh, who knew lying out your ass caused cancer.

THIS is ass-hattery. Some of you need to learn the difference.

Sad to see anyone go at that age. And cancer is a rough way to go. Nuts.

My thought was is that prominent conservatives dying is flypaper for douchebags on this forum.

RIP, Mr. Smith. I didn't agree with your positions or your tactics, but you followed your own light, and died far too young.

I'm sure alchemize will finally get around to perhaps even saying one, single, kind word of acknowledgment about you and your passing after he's done making his political point.

Edit, 10 hours later: Or maybe not. Perhaps conservatives have no compassion, even for their own. <shrug>

Seriously guys, whatever happened to politics stopping at the water's edge? If you think disagreeing with someone's political views is justification for being glad when they die, then I suggest you go outside on a nice day, lay on the grass at your local park and try to get some perspective, because clearly you lost it somewhere along the line. I don't know when we decided that politics is the be all, end all of our existence...but I for one think we take it WAY too far sometimes.

He was a class guy, one of the best white house spokesmen we've had in decades.

I was under the impression his cancer was under control, but I guess he spread that rumor so his dying and death would not be a public spectacle.

How can it stop when it affects people's lives? Bush/Cheney and his gang of thugs have plenty of blood on their hands. This isn't sports.

Well you are making their supporters look better than you because of your infantile pettiness. Some of you guys need a swift kick in the junk.
