Too many USB 3.0, not enough 2.0

So I have a GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UP5 TH board that is great, but it seems to be be too future heavy. There are a couple USB 2.0 ports on the I/O of the board, but on the board itself there are only two USB 2.0 four pin connectors.

I'm working on my build and would like to connect 3 four pin connectors to the motherboard (which is one more than I have). I do have an extra 20 pin 3.0 spot on my board though. Is there a converter or adapter that would allow me to plug a 4 pin USB connecter into a 20 pin plug on the board?

I'm sort of new to computer builds. I don't know what to call a "header" or what not, so I apologize for using the wrong terminology in this post.

those 20pin headers contain both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 signals.
Doubtful there are adapters out there that will bring out only the USB 2.0 signals....BUT...

you could remove the contacts from the USB2.0 4 pin connector, and individually plug them onto the following pins on the 20 pin header:

Red wire: pin 1 (VBUS)
White wire: pin 8 (D-)
Green wire: pin 9 (D+)
Black wire: pin 4 (GND)

There are actually 2 sets of ports on each 20pin header, so you can also use:
Red wire: pin 19 (VBUS)
White wire: pin 12 (D-)
Green wire: pin 11 (D+)
Black wire: pin 16 (GND)

Best advised to wrap each contact with tape prior to plugging in, to prevent the contacts from shorting to unintended pins

Here is a link to the manual, page 34 will show you the pinout of the 20 pin headers

EDIT_ may have found what you are looking for...just need to find a US retailer:

I think he's saying he has a case with 4 pin USB 2.0 plugs, but not enough headers on the motherboard to plug all the ports his case has into

There are two -10 pin, USB 2.0 headers on the board. Each header powers two USB 2.0 ports.

Does be actually have eight USB 2.0 ports he needs to power? If he only has 4 ports to power, then he has enough headers.

Put a USB 2 hub on one of the USB 2 ports.

Thank you!
RU482 That plug is exactly what I was looking for. I need to see if they or someone else sells a plug like that in the US.

My case wants two USB slots (for 4 plugs on the case) and fan controller wants one.

If I can't find that plug then I'll try stripping the wires and connecting them like you said.

Here's the build:
It's going to be a Hackintosh dual boot

Maybe you need an adapter plug or something. Probably has a couple of usb headers you can put to work. Or just buy a usb hub.

Here is what I really needed.
This is a dongle that you can out in your computer case. It is an internal USB Hub.
This plugs into the motherboard on a mobo usb 2.0 internal header (and needs molex power) and puts out 3 usb2.0 internal headers (for a net addition of two internal headers given that you use one header on the board and get 3 back: 2*(3-1)=4 usb slots). And also has two additional external USB headers.
This is exactly what I needed and the reviews on it are nice.

Thanks for helping and I hope this thread will help anyone else who is looking for more internal USB 2.0 headers!!

Do you really need 4 usb ports for the case? Mouse and keyboard and a host of other peripherals usually are just fine going out the back. You only need the front/side usb ports for a thumb drive, camera, phone etc.

I'd like to have all of my ports functioning
Even if I'm not always using all of the front ports, I don't like the idea of having plus hanging out that don't do anything.
If someone wants to plus in to my computer I'd like everything to work (like on a professionally mad comp) and not have to say "oh, use the one of the plugs on the left bc I never set up the ones on the right".

I like that for less than $20 from the right sites, I can have everything working on my build.
