I need to get a new car. (Right now I drive a 1987 Olds Ciera V6) My parents are going to cover most of it, and I have a max budget of about 30k. I am 20 years old and Im trying to decide if I want to get a G35 or an Accord/Altima. Part of me thinks Im too young for a G35, but I also plan to keep this car for a while, and I worry the Accord would start to feel "old" sooner.
What do you guys think?

How about you strike out on your own and work for a living instead of bragging about your parent's wealth and how they spoil you?

Sorry buddy, 'fraid so. Really, if you dont like it, you dont have to read it. I cant change reality anymore than you can.

I am going to pay for about a third of it. Anyways, what I am seriously trying to ask is this- regardless of who is paying for it, is the G35 a young person's car or not?

Man, my parents are loaded and they wouldn't spend a dime on a car for me, let alone 30 freaking thousand. Ah, well. Built character I guess...

If I were you though I'd probably go with the Altima, the G35 will castrate you on insurance and maintenance...I'm getting killed on my infiniti.

I don't think the G35 is too young for a 20 yr old. It is intended for younger wealthy people anyways. That is a great car . Infiniti is definately on the rise.

If you can get it, definantly go for the G35. Who cares if people think you look too young.

350z for sure. 20 would be an awesome age to have one. it's not great practice to buy the first model year of any car, but i doubt you're going to have regrets having it at that age anyway, heh. an is300 w/ a manual would be my next choice.

screw character, i'd sell my character for $30k and pick up a 350z w/out a second thought.

some people are jealous. Good for you and your parents that they are successful enough to provide for you like that. And before anyone says that I'm the same, I bought my first car, a 1984 Honda Civic, and I drive a 1988 Chevy Blazer now. There's no way my parents could pay for a g35 for me.

Me, If you can wait for the coupe, that would be a better choice. But an IS300 with a manual I think would be a very good option as well. Nothing wrong with you driving a g35 sedan though. That new Z though is probably about the same price, and would be a sexy car to drive for sure.

Ditto, Tell you what I did. Got out of the Navy with 21K saved and bought a 69 chevelle SS all beat to hell for 5k and put the rest in a mutual fund (20th century growth). Fixed the car up, learned somthing along the way, drove it though 5 years of college and sold it for 16K. I won't say what that 20th cent account is worth casue i'm pissed off about the last 2 years but lets say I could buy a average home in arkansas.

I've got no problem with people having lots of money, which is why I didn't reply with something like "wow you're spoiled." If I had lots of money, I'd get a nice car too. But, I don't like it when people consider "being successful" the same thing as having lots of money.

Btw, If you want the G35, I'd go with it. I don't think your age matters much.
