What do you guys think of this cover band (video link below)? I'm thinking about seeing them tonight with the other half from the recommendation of a coworker. Their timing is a little off but Tool is a hard band to cover.

http://www.lateralusband.com/videogallery.html

Tool the actual band doesn't really tour anymore due to the 50/50 deal

That is probably one of the easiest tool songs to imitate so I'd bet that's the highlight of the show. I wouldn't pay a lot for it but it would probably be at least mildly entertaining as a tool fan.

Tool is the kind of band that would require very talented musicians to pull it off. If you can't do it as seamlessly as they can, you probably shouldn't play the music.

Yeah I remember nickleback trying to cover sober. It was so bad it was kind of funny.

That band isn't too shabby. Not real hot on the vocalist, but the guitarist has nailed Alex's tone pretty well (even noticed the silverburst LP), and the drummer definitely has good chops.

LOL kind of funny. I'm in a side project Faith No More tribute band and we're playing with these guys sometime in August (at least I'm pretty sure it's these guys. I hadn't actually heard them before. Not too bad.

**Disregard just found out not the same band.

I agree the guitarist and drummer are spot on. I'm not totally with the vocalist but I think he isn't bad. I think I'm going to go. I'll let you guys know how it goes!

And since when is Lateralus the easy song to cover? It is arguably the most complex Tool song ever, and also my fav.

I thought you said "I'm not coming back regardless".

You know, this is already the second time I have had to explain this. I wonder how many more times I will have to copy and paste this exact same thing...

I used to have a very serious problem with drinking over a month ago and before. One of those instances i decided to be a complete douchebag to not only this forum, which i got banned for, but also to my fiancee which i deeply regret. Drinking has had a very serious impact on my life as of late and I have done a complete 180. What helped me was working out daily, I have also started my own business. But hey, let's go dig up skeletons from the past. People change. I'm over 2 weeks sober as of today.

I also find it very funny that you are such a new member with such a low post count. It would not surprise me that you are a long term member with some sort of vendetta. If that's the case, go fuck yourself.

They have 1-3 tours every year and they haven't released an album since 2006.

Not touring anymore? I missed the 2012 tour (TRAGIC FUCKING MISTAKE)...

7/18/10 - Tool @ Nokia Theater
7/15/10 - Tool @ Viejas Arena
8/22/09 - Tool @Epicenter2009
12/10/07 - Tool @Nokia
4/28/07 - Tool @Pearl
9/8/06 - Tool @Staples

Also, isn't Jambi/Wings/10k much more complex than Lateralus?

Those dates don't look recent to me... It's difficult enough to try to catch MJK's Puscifer, let alone Tool. He is into winemaking now in Arizona.

Yes I'm serious. Show me a Chicago Puscifer concert recently. We are the third biggest city in the US, yet nothing. Yes, they are actively touring, I am very well aware of that! I am a huge Puscifer fan and watch their tweets and Facebook updates, but nothing here unless if you count 2011.

Not touring in your city =/= not touring

I counted it up and that's 50 tour dates over 6 months with Puscifer and an additional 13 tour dates with Tool over the same timeframe.

oh wait, the chicago set is right there in the list you quoted

1115 Chicago, IL Cadillac Palace Theatre
http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/puscifer/2011/cadillac-palace-chicago-il-3d1f507.html

And yes I still count it since that was a mere 7 months ago. 7 months to the day, and almost certainly the exact same set except for 2 tracks (Potions and something else).

Anyway, I'd expect another money grab as soon as they're done with the album...

I said Tool wasn't touring recently, not Puscifer. I said Puscifer was hard to catch, hence nothing in Chicago in almost a year. Let's argue some more. Maybe I'll bring my iPad to the hottub tonight.
