Personally, I love Megadeth's "Holy Wars..." even though it doesn't deserve to make it on the list...
I'm totally by Plug In Baby - Muse... even more than QOTSA getting on the list. No Doubt's "Just a Girl" is a better riff than Queens not to mention a lot of other "modern" bands... heck, NOTHING by Rush... that's almost criminal.

Not sure I completely agree with this list, although there are some *really* great songs in there. Hendrix and Ozzy immediately stuck out for me, but...its just so hard to choose. What do you guys think?

I'm a huge Floyd fan, and I would nominate several of their songs if this was the top 20 guitar solos of all time, but I can't think of any riffs that belong there. Money is the only one that's really that recognizable, and I wouldn't call it one of the top riffs.

Actually WildFlower by The Cult has a better riff. Sonic Temple is a great album, but Electric and Love have better riffs.

I'd say that no matter what you can't make a list of 20 "greatest riffs ever" because there are too many good ones, and someone's own tastes will fill up the list before they have a chance to give props to the stuff they don't necessarily listen to. It would be much better fitting to make a list of like the top 100 greatest riffs in no particular order.

Ha - I got a round of APPLAUSE once at a music store for launching into "Young Man Blues" by the Who. They said it was the first thing they'd heard all day that wasn't Bush, Stone Temple Pilots or Metallica.
