Jimi hendrix should be far up on that list though with voodoo.

AHAHHAHA yeah right.

It goes without saying that teen spirit has no place on that list. It's just another mindless tribute to Nirvana.

Pretending to hate Nirvana is SO 1999.

Without John Lee, half those songs wouldn't be up there.

It's too bad people don't listen to more blues- you can bet those guys on the list do.

Who's pretending? Bunch of self-important tripe from a group of drug addicts who thought that being stoned into oblivion gave them some sort of special insight on life. News flash; the only thing being a stoner gets you is the desire to put a bullet through your brain.

At least when Skynyrd got drunk and stoned they didn't pretend that they were doing it for any reason other than to have fun.

If you knew what you were talking about, which you obviously do not, then you would be aware of the fact that it was heroin, not marijuana, that was the demise of Kurt Cobain.

Add in the fact that he had a messed up childhood, and was severely depressed because of it, and you realize why he sings about not having any feelings.

Regardless of the meanings of Nirvana's music, their talent was undeniable. Dave Grohl's aggressive drum beats (ex: In Bloom, Teen Spirit) , Krist's classic bass lines (ex: Come As You Are, Lithium) and of course Kurt's emotional voice and guitar talent (ex: All Apologies, You Know You're Right) made Nirvana the best rock band of the 90s. And Smells Like Teen Spirit has a badass guitar riff, your Nirvana hatred has made you biased.

The publishers of John Lee Hooker?s famous Boogie Chillen track filed a lawsuit against ZZ Top in 1992. The legal action claimed that La Grange had ripped off Hooker?s song from 1948. ZZ Top was successful in its defense when the suit was dismissed five months later. La Grange was a very popular track from their 1973, Tres Hombres LP.

That riff might be "generic" as you say, but someone had to come up with it first, and John Lee is the cinspiration for many of ZZ Top's tunes. You can say that for many of the artists up there.

There is a story about Hendrix and how he used to go down to the clubs and watch Buddy Guy perform, "borrowing" alot of Buddy's techniques.

I just find it a bit sad that this list doesn't acknowledge any of the classic blues artists who made these guy's career's possible.

I'm the world's biggest Zeppelin fan, but when someone thinks of rock riffs, one of the first things that pops into most people's heads is Hendrix's Purple Haze- and it's not even on the list! A couple of those I've never heard of. GnR was good....but #1? Bah...

I can't believe nobody has mentioned "Are you ganna go my way" by Lenny Kravitz, it needs to be on that list.

"Even Flow" by Pearl Jam is a personal favourite riff of mine, but not many people have agreed with me when the topic has come up in the past.
