1. Abit BM6 socket 370 (w/ Celeron 300a@450)
2. Abit KT7A-Raid
3. MSI Neo2 Platinum socket 939 (I like this board, even though some have been trashing it lately)

What's your take?

I've had more than 30 boards myself in the last 4-5 years. While many were good only two truly stood out. The Asus P3BF and the MSI K7 Pro. The Asus IMO is the best board ever made. It was fast, stable, overclockable, feature filled, that board was damn near bullet proof. The K7 Pro was just smooth as butter.

The Asus CUSL2-C was pretty good and another one that came to mind was the Iwill KK266.

Yes, I really liked the CUSL2-C. It had a damn good resale value too. Sold one mobo/cpu combo for $200 and one for $300 on eBay a year or two ago after getting several years use out of them.

1 more vote for the ABIT BH6 - Ran my 300A @ 504 24/7 and still works...

ASUS CUSL2 - it pissed me off by playing nanny with RAM timings over 140 FSB but it was rock stable... still is, my bro in law bought it in 2002 and is still running a 700@933 on it w/o a hiccup.

ASUS P4B-533V... Another rock. Ran a Northy 1.8 @ 2.7 for 2 1/2 years 24/7 with enthusiasm.

Asus A7N8x Deluxe - rock stable, never had a problem, have had it for 2 years now. Overclocked XP 2400+ to 2800+ speeds with very little effort (clock + voltage). Use it for games & general stuff.

Abit NF7 - built it for my brother. Smooth install. Overclocked XP 3000+ it a bit. But it has been stable for over a year. He & his son use it extensively for routine stuff & games.

I have built 4 others, but nothing stands out in my memory!

#1 -- DFI Nforce 4 SLI (A64) -- this is my current board (and my all-time favorite)... I have never had a board be this overclock friendly (running my A64 3000+ Winchester at above 2.7 GHZ), rock stable, and it runs 2 video cards in SLI!!!

#2 -- My Chaintech VNF4-Ultra (A64) -- this board was cheap as dirt, one of the first Nforce4 boards available (I had mine before X-mas), was very stable, and a very good overclocker (although not as good as the DFI SLI board. A rampaging power supply killed it before it's time, when the PSU died hard, and I would up getting the DFI board to replace it.

#3 -- Abit IC7-G (P4) -- this board was a wonderful board, and let me easily kick my P4 2.4 up to 3.4! I missed this board when I upgraded to an A64 (athough I did not really miss my processor)!

The standout boards I liked were

..FIC VA-503+, jumpered socket 7 fsb, multi, and voltage controls out the a$$.
..Abit BP6, dual celerons overclocked at the 100 fsb, outstanding for the day.
..Epox 8RGA+, sweet sound and fsb capable above 230 straight out of the box when the first iterations of nf2 had a hard time making 200. NB voltage controls helped alot.

#1 Asus P3B-F -- Pentium 3, PC100 Memory, 4x AGP and unbreakable

#2 Asus K8N-E -- Socket 754 AMD 64 nForce 3 based that runs fast and cool.

#3 Asus K8N-SLI Deluxe -- Has not proven itself yet. Time will tell.

FOrgot to include one of my all time favorites:

AOpen AK79D-400VN. Was able to get this board for anywhere from $60-$75 for a long time. A great NF2 Ultra board with excellenct overclockability and fan controls. An inexpensive board with top performance. I've built about 4 systems for friends and family around that motherboard and have not had any RMA or compatability problems. Closest thing to Plug-n-play that I have had in a while...
