1- rage on Xbox textures were crap, gave me motion sickness with the screen bouncing around
2- arma 2 gifted this one, slow gameplay and gave me motion sickness I can't even watch a YouTube video without wanting to throw up
3- NFS MW nothing like the original very disappointing

Deus Ex 3. Because to this day it always crashes once i get outside. Plays fine in the first area inside the building, go outside and hard crash.

Farcry 3. A.I and physics is horrid for this caliber of a game. Made it to the burning marijuana farms and i was sickly done with this POS and couldn't force myself to go on.

Rage. Crap game of the year award.

1.) Mass Effect 3 - Huge disappointment
2.) Risen 2 - I like PB and all but it wasn't as good as Risen 1. Can't believe it shipped without a dodge. And even after the patch it wasn't that good.
3.) Guild Wars 2 - I can see why people like it. Its just not for me. Didn't suck me in like I thought it would.

Normally I did my research before buying games, but there are always some that slip though. maybe including games I bought in 2011...

1. Cities XL - Oldies like SimCity 3 and 4 are better
2. Cities in Motion - Freebie oldies like OpenTTD is way better
3. Microsoft Flight - Even with the DLCs (bought in a steam bundle sales) it is just not much of a simulator nor a fun game

Microsoft Flight upset me as well. I purchased some addon planes thinking that the rest of the cockpit would be usable(like the free planes were just demos or something). I don't think they even knew who they wanted their target audience to be. I think that if you're flying a plane and it isn't combat, then it should be simulation.

Diablo 3 lol.

I laugh at people who bought this game. It was apparent literally MONTHS before release that Diablo 3 would use abysmal DRM. You could see the warning signs from a mile away. You had ample time to do your homework. I don't see how anyone could have thought this would be a worthy successor to Diablo 2, with Activision now playing a part in it. I have no sympathy for you whatsoever.

I'm not an anti-DRM guy either; I'm a pretty big Steamfag. But requiring always-online DRM that adds lag to a singleplayer game? lol.

Diablo 3 didn't suck because of the DRM it sucked because the game itself is garbage.

1, Just Cause 1. Funky driving and movement.
2. Saints Row 2. Bad port, glitches stopped me from getting into it.
3. Jagged Alliance BIA - started out nice, then got even better, and eventually started to be a huge micromanagement fest. I'm at the last town after which it is finished and scraped off the hard drive.

Actually I only bought ME3 and D3 last year...Both were mediocre. There is also SWTOR but it was F2P by then.

Oh and GW2. Fun for a month then got bored of it.

Diablo 3 and The Binding of Isaac for me. Borderlands 2 was a little disappointing as well, though not to the degree that D3 was.

Star Wars The Old Republic
RAGE
Dead Island

To be clear, if it isn't obvious already, I don't play a lot of 'bad' games, but STEAM sales can lead you into taking chances on games you otherwise probably wouldn't care to try.

Rage wasn't bad, just thoroughly mediocre. Everything from the linearity to the driving segments to the 'cliched-beyond-all-hell' setting just screamed "Meh".

TOR was a disappointment. I don't usually care for MMORPGs whatsoever, but I love Star Wars, and I adore the KotOR games, but this was just not a worthy follow-up in any way, shape or form.

Dead Island was the only games I played that I thought..."this sucks". I know some people liked it, I couldn't get more than an hour in before thinking "I'd rather be doing something, ANYTHING, else" and moved on. Haven't played it since and have no plans to.

Not to say that the campaign is amazing (and I haven't finished it yet), but it picks up and gets better than the first mission or two. I have no idea why they opened the campaign the way they did, but it is by far the worst part of the game that I've played yet.

I just finished the campaign as well. I thought it was pretty good actually. I also agree that the first couple of missions are the weakest but it picks up toward the end.

I think Titan's quest and it's expansion is one of the best games of this genre, everyone else seems to bet doing the cartoon look for some reason.

I agree. I've been playing a lot of Torchlight 2 lately, and it has been a LOT of fun, but after beating the game once each with an Engineer and an Embermage, I'm actually getting a little bored, and have been considering firing up TQ:IT again. I think I've liked that game (TQ) the most when it's come to ARPGs.

But none of this has anything to do with why Diablo 3 is a bad game...

Probably not the worst game, but the one that was most disappointing compared to my expectations.

Diablo 3, even though I played it a lot. When I look back at it, the story sucked, the game was a lot of easy level grinding until you met a wall somewhere in inferno, where you would need to buy equipment to continue.

I would like to rescind my statement of skyrim, because I quit Guild Wars 2 so fast I completely forgot it existed. Talk about going backwards in terms of fun. I don't play MMOS because they can barely be called games, so when I heard that GW2 was supposed to be new and fun I couldn't believe how terrible it was.

WvW is the biggest joke I have ever seen. They should have called it "50 People kill a door simulator" or "AOE off a Wall Extravaganza".

Gettysburg: Armored Warfare
You Are Empty
Shadow Harvest: Phantom Ops

I don't feel burned because I got them all for extremely cheap or free. Also, playing terrible games can be fun sometimes, just for the novelty.

I would not consider any of the games listed in OP to be terrible. SupCom 2 is mediocre, but that's about it. If Payday and Total War are the worst games you bought all year, then I'd say congratulations.

What madness possessed you to buy Gettysburg? I feel so sorry for you. The nightmares you must've had with the bugs.

Diablo 3 was crap. The loot system is broken and I never found any decent loot. All my stuff had to be bought from the auction house otherwise I wouldn't have survived inferno.

I remember before the game being released saying the game will be tailored around the AH and the fanboys got pissed. The reality is that the game is tailored around that stupid AH. If I wanted to play a trading game Id buy one.

Wouldn't really call these the "worst" or bad games:

ARMA for Day Z - never got it working
Darksiders 2 - Fun, played less than 10 hours
Torchlight 2 - Really enjoyed the first one a lot more. Enjoyed Diablo 3 more.
Mass Effect 3 - Enjoyed everything but the ending

There's probably so many more that I purchased and haven't even played, yea, I'm one of those people...

I can't believe how many ME3s. I played all three in series in quick succession (had never touched them before) and the entire trip except for a few min at the end was awesome. Seeing all the hatred over it it's like getting married to a super model, having an awesome honey moon, and yet on the last day of your three week trip it rains so you're stuck indoors. It's amazing the lack of perspective people have over this.

I said elsewhere, ME3 was the best game I played last year.

Diablo 3 - Everyone has already came up with the reasons. Pick one or several and they'll likely explain mine

Torchlight 2 - It's a good game, it's a solid game but it's missing something. I played it to the end but it lacks a certain something and I cannot put my finger on what that something is. This is the game that was worst in 2012 compared to my expectations.

SWTOR - I downloaded this for free, played for free... it wasn't fun at all. At least not compared to how my friends built it up. I feel robbed of part of my unlimited bandwidth.

Yea I found torchlight 2 to be a bit lifeless; I played almost 2 complete playthrough but haven't touched it since. Titan quest I enjoyed quite a bit more and played it for a couple of years (and dozens of play through).
