Glad for Hung, I was gonna be pissed if anyone else took the title of Top Chef. He absoloutely deserved it. Good for him, can't wait to eat at one of his restaurants I'm sure he'll be opening.

I think the judges were looking for a reason to give it to dale but couldn't find enough ammo. Hung was arrogant and not a team player, but he was too skilled and executed the challenge too well to deny him.

Dale was inconsistent, but inspirational. Amidst some mediocrity he came out with some absolutely stunning dishes and sauses.

Casey could have won as well, but obviously executed this final challenge poorly. She's a wolf in sheeps clothing tho, a very well thought-out subtle but fierce competitor.

And for the second year in a row, the winner is...again.......PADMA!!

I was rooting for Casey all the way.. Too bad she messed up the finale.

I effin hate Hung, he should have never been in the Top 3. But it seems that Top Chef always ends up picking the biggest prick for "Top Chef".

I agree with the Casey comment; I was hoping she'd win as well, but knew that she wouldn't after hearing the judges talking about her final meal.

However, I disagree that Hung shouldn't have been in the top 3. Of all the chefs on the program, he was the one who most consistently earned praise from the judges regarding his technical abilities, sophistication, and palate.

Beyond that, I personally didn't see him as a prick. Sure, he wasn't very helpful to the other contestants, but it's a competition; I might've done more to be a team player, but in the end, you're in it to win. He was also a bit arrogant at times, but confidence/arrogance can take you a long way. Notice how he was the only chef who actually appeared fairly at-ease when re-creating the halibut dish for Sirio Maccioni at Le Cirque? All of the other contestants appeared rattled and/or afraid to "step on the toes" of the resident chefs. Hung, on the other hand, went in with an idea in mind, and refused to let the incumbents intimidate him or affect his performance.

marcel + hung = top restaurant!

edit: hung actually used marcel's trademark (foam) in his finale dishes!

Hung is the man. There's no doubt about it. You cannot deny his excellent in excecution. He's the Bret Hart of Top Chef. It's funny how they strained to give credit where it wasn't due. Like Dale's lobster dish got praise for being inventive and daring. Whatever. Hung will make a great diplomat for Top Chef. Much better than the retard from last year. That guy is Bravo's biggest mistake. What's he done with the $100,000 he won? Opened a restaurant? Nope. He's going on speaking tours. Has anyone even seem him come by your town?

Sure Hung had his moments (not helpful in the kitchen and overly confident) but he played the game well and is an excellent chef.

Hung reminds me of the guy in all my engineering classes who somehow knew everything and wasn't afraid to flaunt the fact. The part in the beginning where he had to identify the seeds and was so cocky he tried to do it by only looking at them but instantly after tasting them he knew he was wrong. He's the guy everybody hates but really does know his stuff.

hung can come off as an arrogant prick a bit but isnt that what you expect from a top level chef? to do what you do and have it picked apart by critics you have to be absolutely confident in what you're serving up. I think casey was good overall as well but just had a bad run in her final dishes. she was the only one who was close to hung in terms of consistency over the entire show. besides, i couldnt help but want hung to win after his smashed cereal smurf village quick fire. i had to laugh too when i saw coconut foam in one of hung's final dishes and then seeing marcel at the "live results". the live thing was a bit gimmicky in my book.

foam is not marcel's thing...its been around since molecular gastronomy has been around since Ferran Adria developed it way back when....marcel just overused it last season....

Another pretentious restaurant to avoid...

FOAM???? That's just disgusting.

Hung should never have progressed past the Frozen Food challenge. That guy could muck up a grilled cheese sandwich.

Too bad about Casey. She was the one, imo.

I think Hung deserved it as well. I wanted either him or Casey to win it because I felt they were the most consistent throughout the whole show. However after the final dinner it was pretty apparent it would be Hung.

What I found funny was that the viewers choice, Hung got the lowest votes by far. I was pretty surprised but I think it was because, like many people in this thread are saying, he came off as a douche.

I'm pretty sure Casey used foam in either the finale, or the part 1 finale....she also sous-vide something as well...

foam is not pretentious...it can be very good when its done well, and when the dish calls for it.

Hung was one of the best chefs on the show. Not likeable, but one of the best and most consistent. I thought he was a douchebag myself, but he was better than the top 3 though.

Hung was the clear winner. Easily the best chef going in and definitely the best one coming out.
