Any of you driven your convertible in the wet with the top down? Did you get wet or what was the speed you didn't get wet?

I heard it was 70mph for the S2000. It was raining on Sunday and it was sunny as we got out. I had a feeling we would be driving in tot he rain but I wante to find out. Got out on the motorway and it started to spit and then to rain. I stayed dried when at 65-70mph but then I turned off and our speed dropped to 35-40mph...you definately get wet at that speed. It started to rain harder and I needed to find a safe place to pull in to get the top back up. No luck

Rains even harder and then we have 5mm hails smashing in to the car lol. I have hail in my hair and I have hail stones on my body and on my dash lol.

I stop at the lights and get the roof back on

I don't have a convertible but have found that on my bicycle as long as I'm going at least 20 mph I don't get wet, even in a down pour!

50mph+ kept the inside of my 3rd gen Miata dry.

I only took a rental '08 Mustang convertible up to 80 before I gave up and pulled over to put the top up.

I stayed drive in my 02 Sebring at 50 mph, but no one in the rear seat would have been dry!

bicycle? i'm calling bs

another poster went 50 + w/ a windshield to keep his miata dry.

you going 20mph (keeping up w/ local traffic) w/o a windshield on your bike WILL get you wet especially in a downpour. i've been biking to/from school for a good 8 years and can tell by experience that there is no way going 20mph w/o a windshield on your bike will keep your face/body/head dry in a downpour of rain.

Maybe you wouldn't have to bike to school all the time if your crappy foreign car's could stay out of the shop.

I had a broken rag-top on my bug while it was raining. Sucked to be driving, shifting, steering, and holding on to my ragtop to keep it closed.

I've noticed a similar phenomenon in regular (non-convertible) cars. If you are traveling at highway speeds in the rain, the rear window stays dry

As long as I'm moving seems to work alright to me in my miata as long as its not raining hard. I got caught in a downpour on the interstate with the top down one night and it sucked. I didn't really get wet but there was enough of a vacuum created that it sucked a fine mist of water up to the inside of the windshield and made seeing a pita. Had to stop under a bridge and put my top up just so I could see.

I've actually considered trying it a few times, then thought better of it. I'm sure it'll happen to me one day.

It's true. You know that new torpedo that goes at extremely high speeds because it creates a wall of air that it has to charge through instead of water? I'm like that. I go aero like a time trialer and make basically a tear-drop shaped shield of air around me, which is completely devoid of water within. Those who see me ride by I just look a bit like a blur, with an invisible shield to repel the water. Fact!

Unscheduled maintenance? That doesn't exist, by definition, maintenance is a periodic, predictable preventative action. You either had Scheduled maintenance or Unscheduled repairs.
