Yes, very impressive. They had upwards of 7 guys working on the engine at the same time, pretty amazing...

And they do this between every run.

Very highly organized operation. I loved the tool caddy that sits on the cockpit sill and has a specific tool with the correct socket, etc., already fitted.

They are pushing 8,000 hp through the engine over a very short period of time. It is worth their time and effort to break down the engine and replace the parts so they make it through the next run.

They spend the first 30 seconds of the breakdown releasing or removing a lot of the safety equipment and harnesses that surround the engine in case there is a catastrophic failure.

The sanctioning body (NHRA) mandates the specs on all parts used. If you use an out of spec part combined with a record run, they will demand a tear down inspection to make sure you are in compliance. Failing this inspection can result in unpleasant actions being taken against you.

IIRC, all top fuel and funny car engines are dodge big blocks from the 50's-60's.
