I have been pouring over page after page of reviews, user opinions etc and my eyes are starting to go wonky.
My trusty old G500 needs to be replaced. Durability is a major factor in my purchase.

There are so many options out there and its tough to choose. My brother will be bringing it back from the States and from Amazon. (he has Amazon Prime)
I would like a mouse similar in weight to the G500 and equally as comfortable. (I am flexible on the weight)

Seems the following brands are coming up more often with good reviews.

Razer, Corsair, Logitech, Roccat, Gigabyte, Steel Series, Coolermaster,
Anker, and Mionix.
There are other brands I am not familiar with but the comments tend to point towards cheaper materials etc.
I need something that is built to last. Ideally I would prefer to keep the cost around the $50-$65 range if possible.

Any suggestions are welcome

My last few mice have been Logitech and Razer.

My current mouse is the G502 proteus core, as my razer 5600 DPI mouse died.

What I like about the G502:

Scroll which keeps spinning (although sometimes it's hard to go up or down just one little notch since the spin click is missing in free scroll mode). That's adjustable with a button and I always switch on the fly when going into a game since I need the old clicking scroll for e.g. switching weapons).

It's accurate and I use the DPI switcher regularly. 4k or even regular displays needs higher DPI (for my taste) while games require finer accuracy.

It has adjustable weight but I haven't found myself needing to change it.

The Proteus looks tempting but pricing is a bit steep at around $75.

I own the G500 from Logitech, have owned it for a year.

Best piece of kit I've ever owned. It's very precise, very easy to handle, very confortable (actually took away my wrist pain, can you believe it?!) and very durable! It has fallen a few times and it's still working properly, nothing to report.

The customizable keys are also awesome, and you can have them doing something while you're browsing and doing something else while your playing, or anything anywhere you want, totally automatic. Very good.

When this baby dies, I'll buy a new one, no second thoughts.

Yeah its my current mouse. Its honestly that good. I might just pony up and buy the same one but if there are any mice out there with similar features, weight etc I would love to look into them.
I would still like feedback on other alternatives if anyone has some other suggestions.

I've got a ROCCAT Kone Pure mouse. Been the best little mouse I've ever had. Love the feel, the weight is good, not too many buttons and the price at BestBuy was around $60 I think.

Have you talked to Logitech about your current mouse? They might just send you a new one.

I have owned the G500 for over 2.5 years and it was bought back in the states. I no longer have the warranty slip, and not worth the money to send it back.

I have looked into the Roccats myself. Are they more suited to medium hands or will they work with large hands?

I would say it's sized for the average hand, it just fits me well. I tend to claw-grip my mouse not holding the mouse fully under my palm, so larger mice just don't work well for me.

didn't we do this already ?

first off, what is gaming? does the game you play need an extremely accurate sensor and extreme maximum speed?

if it does, grab the zowie fk1. or chose between deathadder, abyssus, mionyx avior, steelseries rival, ninox aurora, g100, g400s.. the estabilished fps mice.

if you don't need insane accuracy and speed, then get a mouse which fits your hand well (and that doesn't suck horribly).

Please relax. While your thread covers details on mice and is appreciated, your premise that people can just buy a mouse and sell it on Ebay or gift a friend is not reasonable. Electronics are expensive here.
I live in South Africa and shipping a mouse back to Amazon is not an option hence why I was looking for feedback.

So I took a chance and bought the new Asus ROG Gladius.

Its very new but so far has gotten very solid reviews especially for comfort and quality. The fact that the switches can be replaced is very nice and that a set of replacements switches and replacement pads are included is icing on the cake.
I got it for a very good deal (extremely good by South African standards)
for around $66. I also got free shipping.

Thats cheaper than Amazon and quite a bit cheaper than newegg which is not normal. (we usually pay 20% premium for imports if not more).

I will give feedback once I get it.

If you can live with 24hr battery life I recommend this mouse:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...=-1&isNodeId=1

I'm using this mouse since about 6 months and it's been great in anything I've thrown at it. My only complaint is that battery lasts too short. 24hrs if you game a lot, and up to 3 days for normal browsing use. You can disable the leds to buy some battery life.

The Good:
Pinpoint accuracy. Adjustable DPI (800-3200, 100 increment) and report rate (125-500 Hz)
No skipping, jerking or anything like that. When I said pinpoint accuracy I meant it.
Comfortable. Very. It's a finger grip mouse, covered with a rubbery surface with good grip. My hand never sweated on it. Doesn't get dirty easy.
The mouse wheel is awesome.

The Bad:
Battery Life
mini-USB port can be broken if you're being a dick.
Charging cord is 1 foot long. You'll want to buy a way longer one.

The redeeming:
Can work as a wired mouse while it's charging.

the surface on that mat seems similar to the goliathus speed. silk-like, very thin and tight fibers, somewhat spongy?

I would say hard sponge, you have to use a lot of pressure to push it in and it will only push in every so slightly. Surface is very slick/smooth. So yes to the silky but not really spongy per say.
It doesn't compress when I play at all.
Honestly its the first cloth/hybrid I have used and I like it a lot.

Its too bad it doesn't have RGB lighting. Otherwise, its a nice looking mouse.

Yeah only the logo is backlit. Lack of RGB lighting doesn't bother me.
What I care about is performance and comfort which supposedly this mouse has in spades.

Edit... so both the wheel and switch can also have the blacklight. Here is a snip from a review which I highly suggest reading.
It goes into a fair amount of detail.

" Since Gladius doesn’t come with RGB LEDs, the lighting options are limited to switching on and off the available areas (scroll wheel, DPI switch, ROG logo) or to cycle between steady lighting and breathing mode. "

So I received the mouse within this last week. It took some getting used to compared to my old Logitech G500, both in weight and size, however the more I use it the more I like it.

Accuracy seems to be extremely good. No acceleration as far I can see.
Settled on 2600 Dpi. (I do not game competitively anymore)
Comfort level is superb. I have reasonably large hands.
Rubber side grips really help a lot.

I still have much more to test but so far extremely happy with the purchase.
For what its worth I chose the braided cable.
