Hurt feelings? Lol this is P&N.

I don't understand your point at all. No laws are being changed. And what do you mean by forgiven? He didn't punch the audience. I have nothing to forgive him for, neither do those that enjoy the show. This is just more entertainment. The punch is between the producer and Jeremy. Not that big of a deal, especially considering the overtly male cast and crew.

This was just one big misunderstanding. It initially sounded like he punched the producer.

There was no punching.

There wasn't even a slap. It was a smack.

And, it was all over hot food.

LOL!!

My fault for thinking this was anything more than a prime meathead throwing a hissy fit.

OP, I request you change your title to "Top Gear" host SMACKS producer.

This story, outrage over his suspension, the 'incident' itself - it's just a big stupid joke.

Have you ever watched the other shows that Hammond, Jeremy and James do? They are all really fun to watch. Top Gear USA on the other hand...I'd rather watch paint dry.

I think I'll watch me some Top Gear USA and try to figure out why it sucks so much. I'm 5 minutes into a youtube video and I can tell you the obvious:
-Annoying voice intro.
-None of the intro clips grab my attention.
-Giving the hosts titles like "the wrecker" is stupid.
-Weird dramatic music when giving facts about Alaska.
-The hosts appear to be actors. I doubt they really act like that in real life.
-Fake banter.
-Terrible cinematography.
-Top Gear UK's hosts would talk to the camera without talking to each other, so it would add a sense of dramatic irony. The viewer knows why things are happening or going wrong, but the other drives don't understand what's going on. Top Gear USA's hosts talk to each other through radio, so they understand the situation better than the viewer. That makes things less funny.
-The fat bearded guy can't drive a jeep on a paved highway without looking drunk.

My god. What the hell is wrong with American TV? Is it really too much work to just point a camera at people at let them be normal? One of the guests on Joe Rogan's podcast was on Last Comic Standing, and she said it was like living in a prison. Hanging out with comics is normally a lot of fun, but producers would try to screw everything up as much as possible. You can't drink alcohol with the other comics, you can't smoke weed with the other comics, you can't joke about things or be friends. There's always some stupid producer trying to create drama or make it look like two people are enemies. Something that should be a lot of fun ends up being horrible. That's American TV in a nutshell.

Clarkson has thrown plenty of punches that have made the news. He clocked Piers Morgan at an awards ceremony.

What?

Have we given him a medal of honor yet? Maybe rename it to Clarkston D.C.? Is there any way possible to put his statue in place of Lady Liberty?

If I remember correctly, Piers said something about Clarkson's wife.

Piers used his journalist position to imply that Clarkson was having an affair. All part of their 20 year feud. Clarkson dumped water on Piers Morgans head, pushed him and punched him so far. In return, Piers has challenged Clarkson on twitter. Clarkson has won the battle of wits in every Twitter exchange.

I can't believe you guys would protect Obama like this from punching Netman Yahoo, just because you like his politics. Bad behavior is bad behavior and actions have consequences. This kind of lack of personal responsibility is what creates ghettos. The guy committed a crime and has to do the time. Fucking liberals.

thread crapping, is against the rules.

Wait, wait. So you were upset because "meat heads" wanted a show they found entertaining back on the air after the host was said to have punched the producer. It turns out to be a slap. Then you try to belittle the "meat heads" by saying it wasn't even a punch as if a punch in your head is more manly or something. The thing you were railing against in the first place is now the very thing you are making fun of the fans of because it didn't happen. Wth?

You are so out of touch with reality.

Kate Upton's rack rates way above sliced bread.

You know when you have been playing too much Civ 4, when you read number 5 and think about the income boost you get.

I like Top Gear and Clarkson a whole lot - have seen every single episode and special they've ever produced - but I don't know if I can get over someone keeping their job after punching a coworker. There have to be standards, even for the charismatic.

It's not like he is just the guy who works in the sales office around the corner from your cubicle. I don't think you can hold him to the same workplace standards that you would hold everyone else to. Also it has been said that he didn't punch his producer, he "smacked" him. Whatever that means. How is it going to help anyone to just fire him? Everyone who works there loses their job, the world loses a fantastic show, and people feel sorry for Jeremy Clarkson. What lesson does it teach?

Hell, union employees don't get fired for actually getting in a fist fight at work. They get sent for anger management or some type of training to address the root issue. I personally think the root issue is that Jeremy Clarkson is who he is and that BBC encourages him to be himself and that results in some undesirable behavior. It's like having a prize pig that makes you oodles of money and then complaining about the pig crap on the carpet.

So I am assuming you tried to make a joke by using what you perceive as the logic of those you disagree with. Am I right?

What logic? Hypocrisy isn't logic. You won't fine me defending Roman Polanski, which is essentially what is happening here. What kind of a donkey punches people?

You truly are fucking stupid to equate throwing a punch with having sex with a 13-year old.

Exactly why it's not such a cut & dry situation. Clarkson's money-generating ability supports a helluva lot more people and families than just his own salary.

lol +1

Nobody bothers to film sliced bread on a zero G flight.

You truly are fucking stupid to equate throwing a punch with having sex with a 13-year old.

Yes there are different degrees of wrong. Why do you have to be so stubbornly difficult with everything you do?
I agree, but Yllus makes a valid point. There have to be standards even for the talent, and surely those standards are somewhere above drugging, screwing and sodomizing a thirteen year old.

Personally if he slapped a stagehand or grip I'll be calling for his firing, but slapping a producer gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling. Occupy Clarkson, speaking truth to power slapping power upside its head.

I agree there has to be standards for the talent. Discipline in all organizations starts at the very top. But the reality of the world is a rare few individuals are above standards. Clarkson is one such individual. He's like the British Charlie Sheen (minus the coke & pornstars, I think?).

I'm not sitting here arguing that he shouldn't be suspended and the show return for my entertainment. Whatever happens, happens.

But knowing Moonbeam he's probably going to turn around and say "See! I was actually commenting on the hypocrisy of defects wanting Obama impeached!" And it's like, why can't you just be normal for a day?
