TOP GEAR: S14E07 - Lexus LFA

Not sure if I'm liking the whole "video game" style of graphics they are using. But no doubt the Lexus LFA is designed for the PSA generation...even more so than the Nissan GT-R.

The engine is the closest I've heard to an F1 engine in a production car. But it's no where near worth 6x the price of a GT-R.

why are you comparing the tin can looking GTR to the luxury and status of an LFA?

personally I would never buy a GTR no matter how fast it goes. For $80,000 there are at least 10 other cars I would get if I were in the market for an over the top 6 cylinder.

Of course I don't see the LFA going for $480,000 (6 x GTR???) but for half a million there are also at least 10 other cars i would get.

Luxury and status of a LFA? At the end of the day, it's still a $400k Lexus.

I just don't like the overall aesthetics of the LFA.. just looks off to me.

Well it did do a lap time in the 1:22 range (on a wet track). That's 3 seconds faster than the Gallardo LP560...this despite the Lexus not having all wheel drive.

LFA is a good looking car. I don't think 350k is the official price yet. Toyota is going to sell this thing at a loss.

The problem is already stated in TG - far too many competitions in the price range. If just want a speed monster a GTR would do just fine. Other wise, you have anything ranging from Porsche to Aston to Ferrari. Tough luck Toyota.

1:22 in the wet is nuts. i really hope they manage to get a dry lap in somehow! the only thing i kinda didn't like about the TG video was how it switched from real to artsy and back. i thought they did that too often. it's pretty neat that the LFA revs too fast for an analogue tach (go toyota/yamaha go!).

people can complain about the price all they want, but in the end, it's yet another kickass supercar that, regardless, will have serious demand. i wonder what it costs' toyota to make these if ~375k is a *loss*

Boy was that episode a snoozer. Some of the shows this season, including this one, were just boring. The show has kind of lost its mojo the last few seasons IMO, though they still produce the occasional gem.

I was thinking the same thing. Sounds like dopey rationalization for using a gimmicky dash. I think the gauge cluster looks really nice for an electronic one - I just don't understand why they bothered to come up with such a silly explanation for why they're using it.

Haha, Clarkson going ALL over the globe was hilarious.
But traffic sign lady... I almost fast forwarded. The only thing keeping me watching was my respect for the show.

I think Season 13 was very good, and then ironically enough, after Clarkson's little Vantage session, Top Gear hasn't been the same since.

Even the Romanian episode was a let down. I thought they were going to talk more about the cars and show how awesome they were, not rehash some fucking meme from 2 years ago.

Thank You. When I saw the review, I looked up the Buick equivalent and was disgusted. What an ass-looking car it was.

The auto industry here seems to be marketed towards 45+ year olds. That is why they are dying.

Most likely they will only have specific Lexus dealerships that can service the car...and only one or at most two tech's who are qualified to work on it.

Agreed...although they had better car reviews this show than the rest of the season.
