yep, he could have sold it as is. but i guess that would defeat the point of buying the car and "fixing" it with the leftover money.

stupid damn commercials. The interviews feel so rushed b/c of the missing time. I would have loved to listen to Tim Allen go on about cars a lot more.

I'm still waiting for it to show up on History's site so that I can watch it. Sunday evening is an inconvenient time for me to watch TV. First couple episodes showed up almost exactly 24 hours after airing. Then it went to 48 hours. Now it is past 48 hours. We'll see tonight if it shows up after 72 hours.

I think the show is (slowly) starting to get better. Still think Rutledge is the weak link. But lets see how it goes.

That episode was just passable IMO. Personally I always liked the TG formula of testing one truly exciting car per episode, and I don't think the CR-Z counts. Their races, particularly this one, feel even more obviously rigged than the ones on the UK show. I'm sure TGUK cooks the books to make the races look more competitive, but this race just seemed obviously faked to the point that I couldn't really suspend disbelief (which I cheerfully do when watching the original). The used-car-salesman challenge was also just lame IMO.

I agree it's improved over the first couple of episodes, but the problem is that ALL THREE of them seem like weak links to me. Adam Carolla (who was targeted as the lead host) knows more about cars than any of them (albeit not as much about driving as Foust) and is truly funny. Ferrara and Wood seem like halfwits with no car background at all, and Foust is just boring. The concept is strong, but when all three hosts are weak it's hard to get momentum going.

supposedly the tguk races are run as-is, and the results are true/not rigged. they then go back and film some more footage for more exciting scenes/shots.

Go to finalgear.com forums and "video offers." There is a thread with links to all of the new TG US and TG UK episodes.

For convenience, here is the link to the thread with all of the TG US links:

Just finished watching the car salesman episode. That was....painful to watch. Rutledge has got to go. Nothing he says is funny. Adam was not very funny either, which is not really acceptable considering he's supposed to be the funny one. If those scripted and edited scenes at the dealership are the best they can do, I don't have high hopes for this crew. I had actually liked the episode with the Aston, thought they did a good job with that one. But this was just horrible.

I completely agree on the races so far. I mean, you know that the races are rigged in TGUK (or at least filmed a lot more dramatically than they really were), but they were highly entertaining.

In TGUS, the rigging is way too obvious to the point that the show isn't very fun to watch, IMO. That miami race really got me rolling my eyes when they the boat, plane, and car in the same shot.

They're trying TOO hard to fit in the same mold as TGUK, but it just doesn't work, at least not with these hosts. I really wish they'd break away from TGUK's design and make something of their own.

TGUS is such fail, nothing but rehash of the TGUK challenges but with none of the comedy or wit. The GM challenge was a play by play rehash of the BL challenge from 5 years ago. Id rather watch the TGUK reruns.

None of the guys are funny or interesting at all. They don't seem to have any chemistry. It's so hard to compete with the UK version since they've been together so long and have great chemistry together. None of these guys mesh well together.

I enjoyed this latest episode. I have fond memories of my dad's F150 4x4 and going off-roading in the desert.

Has Top Gear UK ever showcased American trucks?
