So what? Why does saying a word make you racist? Does admitting the fact that the word exists also make you a racist?

It's not like he said "all black people smell bad and have nappy hair and thus are inferior to us white, rosey-smelling, straight-haired gods." He wasn't being derogatory with it.

It's just a fucking word. A word cannot be racist. Racism has to have intent behind it. Well, except in the eyes of a racist.
