Top must see places in Kauai

I'll be going to Kauai this Saturday for work, supposed to be there for 2.5 weeks. I'm thinking/hoping I'll have about 2-3 days for exploring the island. What are the top must see places there? I'll be staying at the Marriott Resort.

see if you can book a trip on captain sundown's catamaran trip to the na pali. he is the only one who sails out of hanalei bay. It has a couple of honda 4 strokes but he did not have to run them for 3/4 or our trip. It was VERY cool.
Drive around to the top of the canyon after that to see where you were on the water.

Waimea Canyon as was said is probably a not miss. You might want to consider a helicopter trip as that's the only way you are going to see a lot of the waterfalls and inaccessible parts of the island. Whether you do the catamaran trip or not, Hanalei Bay is a must see.

I'll be getting there late on Saturday, but plan to have Sunday as a driving day. I've heard the really scenic part of the island is in the North? Looks like Hanalei Bay is there, so I'll make sure that I get out there then.

I would agree that extreme North is the most scenic. You're relatively close to Waimea Canyon where you're staying so you should consider that if you have another day free. Lot's of switchbacks on the route up so it's relatively slow going. It's referred to as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific and it's aptly named. We always stayed extreme North in the Princeville area and when we went to the canyon it was a trip that needed to be relegated to an entire day with the travel time and stopping to eat, etc.
