Oh yea! I've got the 430 and it's been bullet proof for more than 2 years and it has never been hot or loud. The heat depends on how hard the PSU is actually working. If it's not working hard there should be no reason for it to run hot.
Another vote for Thermaltake from me, the Silent Purepower 560 is a great PSU! Its got stable voltages, its quiet, only down side is its not dirt cheap (cost me $105 shipped @ newegg).
I find Antec power supplies to be very quiet. I think they have a model in the 550 watt range that comes with a controller that goes into a 5.5 Bay. That to me is overkill. I get by with a 350 Watt power supply in my Antec SLK3700AMB Case. I like this case with the 120mm Exhaust Fan.
Watch out for high-end Video cards that pull around 100watts of power and sound cards.
If you really use a lot of storage you might be better off with a small server. A server needs no fancy sound or video cards and only really needs a CDROM and a Hard Drive Array. I suppose you could get by with no CDRom, except when you are loading the operating system. Maybe an external CDROM may work. Most of the time a CDROM would just sit there and do nothing. An extra PC with any OS could be used as a server to store music or video files on.
I'd go with a Thermaltake Silent PurePower 480W (you're actually getting 550w). i'm very satisfied with it, voltages are very stable. I've heard problems with Antec PSUs.
