It's called Thai Shrimp Tom Yum Instant Noodles. They have them in ready to eat bowl as well.

shr00m,
The real ramen noodle(not instant) you are talking about must be called imitation egg noodle.

CAK,
I grew up on B`anh M`i. I guess I have an acquired taste for it. I like that tastes better than subway sandwiches. It might also be those year from junior high when I sneak sandwich to school everyday so that I can get more allowance money from my lunch money. Those sandwich wear my taste bud down!

pho rules. there was a shop here that sold two x-large bowls of it for $5.00 total. buy one, get one free. needless to say it was packed all the time. when the special offer ended, so did business... so much so it ended up closing shop. kinda sad to see it go. i miss getting two bowls for $5.00 . best price i've seen now is 3.25 per bowl.

I remember in elementary school there was a fad going around during lunch time where kids would bring packages of ramen to school and eat it raw. We'd take out the msg package and crush all the noodles inside the bag, then we'd pour in all the msg, shake it up and then eat it with our fingers. I did that one day at home and the bag burst sending MSG covered bits of ramen everywhere, my dad was hella pissed.
I'm Chinese and mostly partial to Asian food. IMHO American food mostly sucks. My favorites in order of preference are:
Vietnamese - pho all the way baby. I get an almost gallon sized bowl of it w/ spring rolls on the side
Thai - tom yum soup, pad tai are a must
Korean - bibim bap, chap che, bulgogi - sorry can't spell at all.
Japanese - unagi, caterpillar roll - lots of stuff I can't name
Chinese food is mostly a staple for me but jook(rice porridge) and Shanghainese and Taiwanese noodle dishes are great. In San Francisco I kinda hate Cantonese restaurants for the crappy service. gods, it's 4am I'm drooling and the only thing I have is carrot sticks.

Anybody got some good recipe sites? I wanna make Vietnamese spring rolls

I haven't really read any of the replies, but I just thought it's pretty amazing how this 'deal' has racked up almost 100 replies in such a short time.

cmv,
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give the wet vacuum a try later w/ that spilled vacuum. I was going to take it straight to the car detail shop & pay $60 to get it clean off. I'm embarassed by the smell of it however. They probably though somebody crap in my car. I was going to Febreeze the smell down a lot b4 taking it to the shop. But won't wet vacuum make my car rust?

Vpham97: insurance covers something.. dunno how much. but we just went cause my ortho recommended her. Could have gone to NIH probably, but my mom is paranoid about those things. But damn it, i can't freakin talk! heh. And when I eat, i don't feel the ice cream dripping down the chin... cause they novicaned me for an extra 6-8hrs just to ease any pain.... and well, the carpet wasn't too happy

BTW, i really want a bowl of my mom's pho now.

lnguyen,
Dude, another cheap food perfect for your situation right now is: Cha`o(Rice Porridge soup.) This is better & cheaper than ramen and will fill you up too. Cost you a nickel to make a big pot.
Put about a small handfull of rice to a gallon of water. Voila, you got soup. Put some beef boillon cube in there if you like. Put in some lime & hot sauce. Add whatever side stuffing you like(salted egg, chicken) It's pretty cheap in the store as well. But then they put stuff in there that other people will back away(chitlins.)

I'm hungry right now too. I can't find my student I.D card to go to the cafeteria. I haven't been there in two days.

Besides, you could always go to your local Costco and get a box of like 36 of them for $4.99. But only if you really never leave your dorm room.

I suggest you do not get these cuz I ate them and I threw up afterwards. Needless to say, I don't get the cheap kind anymore.

I goto UCI--which means I'm about 10 mins from Little Saigon.
Live in Alhambra--which means I'm in the center of 10 million resturaunts.

I get tons of cheap food.

So there!

lngyuen: in the earliest post, were you talking about eden plaza (i forgot the new name for it) it's very nice now. I used to live in falls church before moving to montgomery county MD and I'm now in Los Angeles with most of you guys at UCLA and other neighboring schools

I like the vietnamese sandwiches (esp with pig ears) and pho, and i also agree that ramen is nothing to the real thing in asian grocery stores. I must admit, these days I'm going more for thai food

As to the ramen in a bag with the msg packet poured all over it, hahaha.... I remember that as a kid. but that MSG packet makes my stomache turn right now just thinking about it....

The best kinda noodle is Japanese Soba. You know, the thick arse wheat noodles.

Pho is also pretty good. Except here in philly, it's 4.50 to 4.95 depending on where you go. And a large bowl is like .50 to a buck more. Ouch! The coffee is $2.50. Ouch! The spring rolls are $1 to 1.50 each. Ouch!

pho - best when you have hang over. =)
ramen - 4 years of college eating ramen messed up my stomach. Still better than school food. =)
I heard that someone wrote book on 100+ ways of making/eating ramen.. hmmm.. i need to get hand on that book.

really go to oriental market and get some real ramen. They are little more expensive but well worth few more pennys.

top ramen = tnt
shin ramen = geforce
pho = geforce2

Can't believe I'm replying to this thread.

1. Ramen is freakin' fattening.
2. Pho is fattening too but at least it tastes better.
3. lnguyen: As posted previous, Eden Center in Falls Church (at Seven Corners) is a little Vietnam center with lots of different Vietnamese restaurants and everybody serve Pho. Don't eat at the fast food pho place!
4. Don't the street on Arlington Rd. is Pho 76 (next to Lucky World) is the best Pho place I've ever eaten.

The store at my school is selling them for $.40. 2-liter bottles of soda are on sale for $2.20. They wonder why there aren't many customers.
