I remember in elementary school there was a fad going around during lunch time where kids would bring packages of ramen to school and eat it raw. We'd take out the msg package and crush all the noodles inside the bag, then we'd pour in all the msg, shake it up and then eat it with our fingers. I did that one day at home and the bag burst sending MSG covered bits of ramen everywhere, my dad was hella pissed.
I'm Chinese and mostly partial to Asian food. IMHO American food mostly sucks. My favorites in order of preference are:
Vietnamese - pho all the way baby. I get an almost gallon sized bowl of it w/ spring rolls on the side
Thai - tom yum soup, pad tai are a must
Korean - bibim bap, chap che, bulgogi - sorry can't spell at all.
Japanese - unagi, caterpillar roll - lots of stuff I can't name
Chinese food is mostly a staple for me but jook(rice porridge) and Shanghainese and Taiwanese noodle dishes are great. In San Francisco I kinda hate Cantonese restaurants for the crappy service. gods, it's 4am I'm drooling and the only thing I have is carrot sticks.
Anybody got some good recipe sites? I wanna make Vietnamese spring rolls
