Hey grillmasterP, just to let you know, if you want to die or get sick by eating MSG, you have to consume so much that all you end up eating is MSG. It's kinda like how drinking diet coke (nutrasweet) causes cancer, or watching too much tv or staring at the monitor too long will expose you to so much radiation that you will melt.

Anywho, for those of you who eat a lot of Asian food, all... let me repeat myself... ALL ASIAN RESTAURANTS WILL USE MSG. If there is no MSG in there, people (Asians) will not enjoy the food because our taste buds have gotten use to the fact that MSG is in food. Without MSG in Asian food, it will taste a little weird. I'm serious about this too. Every restaurant will add even the tiniest bit of MSG, just so the customers have that type of flavor in it. Do you know those places with neon signs claiming that they put no MSG in their food... Guess what... THEY DO! Trust me, I have my sources. Even if these restaurants didn't put MSG directly into the food, some of the products they order will come with some in it (tofu, soy sauce, etc.).

Basically... BUYER BEWARE! ) hehe

msg is not that bad, don't believe the hype.

the best packaged noodles are thai Mama brand noodles, btw. there is no comparison. Just add some shrimp and/or beef, squeeze in a twist of lime, and you've got some damn good dining. Pho is another class, it's not pre-packaged.

The absolute best are the Korean (forgot the name) noodles in the red fatty bag.

that's called "shin" (in chinese letters) ramen. that's the best of the best, but meyeon ramen in cups are pretty damned good too. they're made of rice noodles instead of the flour. you guys should try that one out as well. i never thought these many people liked ramen, something i took for granted for many years.

Speaking of MSG, I went to this noodle house and I tasted the MSG for days. It was THAT thick, I'm not joking. When was MSG ever "not that bad" for people? Of course it's bad. Maybe it won't kill you tomorrow but it will take part in your death later.

Pho &amp; Hu' Tie'u are prepackaged like ramen also. They also come in buellion cube or canned soup. The Hu' Tie'u packaged are pretty good if you pick the right brand.

It was more of a FYI - I didnt exaggerate in my post-
My response was for those that asked what is MSG and why is it so Bad.

After all I am Asian- Vietnamese and in the HRM/ restaurant industry
Not Ali restaurants use MSG directly- Yes most Soy Sauces contain msg- but soy sauce can be omitted from recipes.
An experienced Cook/chef can easily modify recipes to meet customer requests
The info re MSG was from Biddle's- Field Guide to Germs- Book used For Health/sanitation classes.

Oh my goodness, mama noodles are the best. The first time I had'em it was for a midnight snack and I added all the hot sauce. BIG MISTAKE. : ) My stomach burned all night.

For those of you who are used to Maruchan noodles (or whatever they're selling in American supermarkets now) find an asian grocery store and try a couple different brands/flavors. You'll be pleasantly surprised : )
