Newegg listing shows some AMD cards scoring pretty high. Not sure if I believe it though, as our allegedly #3 winner (Nitro 390X) only has 10 reviews.

Surprising that on Amazon the 8400GS is still going strong.

Weird to see, Hawaii SKUs selling so well in 2016. Old, but not obsolete.

The tragic tale for AMD here though, is how much of a flop Fiji is. Top-end is all 980Ti.

IMO, combo of high price, coil whine and 4GB fears made Fiji SKUs DOA.

Newegg's listing is based on recent sales only. All of those cards were recently promoted with codes and discounts. It most certainly is NOT a listing of the most popular cards on Newegg.

Amazon's listing is much more accurate, and what I've always found very interesting about it is how dominant EVGA is. 8 of the top 10.

Amazon is based on recent sales as well. There is a weight with a predictive algorithm that they use based on historical data, but it's mostly daily sales ranks from what I understand, probably not much different than newegg.

Amazon's top sellers don't change day to day. Most of those cards have been top 10 for the last 6 months.

The actual Amazon algorithm isn't divulged, but everything I've ready about it says that it is heavily based on most recent sales and can (not necessarily will) vary within a single day. I'm guessing bigger ticket items (like gpus, at least compared to something like books) probably have a lot less variation.

Now keep in mind that the rank is “at that point in time” and the numbers are updated regularly (I did some experimentation and it seems to change once an hour). The best rank I’ve ever seen for him is 27,873 the worst is 527,890. The number can vary wildly even over the period of a single day for instance on Feb 8th the ranking varied from 70,891 – 321,204)

• How much time has elapsed since the most recent sale?
• How many sales have been made recently?

The best source of sales is always the quarterly reports. Obviously they don't give hard numbers, but it's very easy to see trends over time or surprise spikes/dips.

Seeing the GTX 960 sell so well makes me chuckle.

But then again of you're a big World of Warcraft gamer then it's a good card for that.

I personally wouldn't pay a penny for one seeing as it will quickly become obsolete.

If there was a card I'd get, from NVIDIA, it would be the GTX 980 Ti. In any other price segment, I'd likely go AMD.

Wow, most of them are made by EVGA. You can't find this brand in some countries in Europe and I'm wondering why it is so popular on your side of the pond? Do they use better components, are they pricing the cards lower than the competition, is it easier to RMA?

Better customer service and warranty support. EVGA is a very good brand.

Might be coincidence, but EVGA is the only American vendor of Nvidia GPUs. That is part of the reason its support team is better, although its policies are also much more customer-friendly.

The other major brands available in the U.S. (Gigabyte, MSI, and Asus) are all based in Taiwan. They're much bigger companies, but their support does not compare to EVGA. I can speak to an EVGA tech within three minutes 24 hours a day.

Difference here is Newegg sees more "informed" buyers, while Amazon is your casual gamers that don't know anything about video cards. The more of a computer hardware enthusiast you are the higher your chances of buying an AMD card are. This is why so many more joe blows own Nvidia cards bought from Best Buy or Amazon yet on computer hardware forums you will find many AMD card owners.

I don't think I've ever bought any PC components from Amazon, but then I'm in Canada. Here I think most people use NCIX, Canadacomputers, Memoryexpress, and maybe Newegg Canada.

You can actually count on EVGA to honor the warranty which is why I buy them if im in that market. I've never had ASUS even once honor their warranty over 4 different RMAs in different departments (2x laptops, 2x motherboards). I'm never spending another dime with ASUS
