New season of TopGear starts in a hour from now.

Anyway, I'm definitely looking forward to this season. F12 Berlinetta review, more hot hatches, and probably an adventure or two. New reasonably priced car.

Sure, there will be some faffing about, but you've got to embrace that.

I don't care if that was scripted, it was the best line in the whole show.

Anyway, this episode was a great way to start off the season. I was surprised to see how much praise they heaped upon the Fiesta ST, but I believe them. The American version should be even better given that it has ~20 more hp than the Euro car.

Not a bad start. Honestly I couldn't help being a little disappointed that the big race was conducted in a rented Corolla, but it was still pretty entertaining. I liked the new Reasonably Priced Car segment.

I guess I'll give this a shot. I haven't watched in a while...I think the show officially jumped the shark for me with the 'India special,' and I just got turned off of watching it.

Watching through this episode right now, and I just feel like it's worth noting that the whole 'one shape to rule them all' thing is pretty epicly illustrated in their hot hatch comparison. It looks as if the front fascias should interchange between cars. Like swapping a Golf front end onto a Jetta or something. They're all just so retardedly similar. Take the .02 hit to your drag coefficient and make something that doesn't look so blandly familiar.

Was very surprised Warwick Davis ended up turning a halfway respectable time. I assume they gave him a real, safe seat and pedal extensions. I'd have to think it would be tricky to operate the clutch, in particular, with an extension like that, regardless of what it was made of. By way of illustration, it's really hard to adjust to the floor-hinged clutch on old 911s - feel is just so important to using the clutch.

It was ok, not bad but nothing too special, but I think the best part of it was it looks like they've upgraded their tag along/accessory cameras so they should have a lot of impressive shots this year without having to rig the shots as much as they used to. The high fps slowdown shots of James getting hit with spray for instance.

Things (this episode and their preview) definitely give off the old Top Gear vibe.

Yeah, there was something strange about the pacing of it. I don't think it works well when they have two road tests in one episode (actually I'm not sure I've ever seen that). The F12 segment felt rushed to me. The taxi race was predictably a little tired. I never love those "let's bring in touring car drivers to race (insert vehicle here)" segments, particularly not where the cars themselves are kind of boring, as they were here.
