So I found a secret unmapped passage that gave me a random buff. Turns out that the buff allowed me to access a locked door. 6 floors and an epic dragon fight later, I get 2 unique drops.

Damn, where at???

Beat the grand whosits, saw the act break, got some NICE goodies. Not uniques though, but a kickass goblin vulcan cannon with +200 knockback and armor breaking. Good fast two hand axe with armor breaking and health leech, some cool parts of sets. I found out the hard way that combining gems gets you new gems, not the next level up. Appears to be random.
Pissed away all my cash enchanting and disenchanting my favorite gear trying to get the best bonuses. Dumb.

My pet has been a spider, vampire spider, wolf thing, wombat thing and lizard thing. Do they have permanent fish in this game? Fate and Torchlight did, but maybe they decided not to do it again.

Oh, and I need to go offline with Steam. Those achievements are more annoying than anything else.

I had to stop playing.

My eyes are literally bleeding from those graphics :/

waaaaaa :'(

I'm usually a graphics snob and this looks just fine. It's cartoony, and the gameplay is fun enough I barely notice. Plus if you get six people casting spells in a huge group of baddies the FPS slows down as it is.

Hey All:

Although never a fan of aRPGS, I purchased D3 shortly after release and, not surprisingly, stopped playing shortly thereafter; it wasn't anything wrong with the game, it was simply that I didn't really enjoy aRPGS. Recently, looking for something to play, I tried D3 again and actually found it enjoyable. Although only a lvl 20 sorc, I am definitely having a good time playing the game.

Before playing more D3, however, I was wondering whether I might be served switching over to TL2? I know everything is a matter of opinion -- and I don't want to start a flame war -- so what are the most salient differences between the gameplay of D3 and TL2? From searching this thread, I gather that the unique loot drops are more common in TL2 b/c the devs didn't have to worry about a RMAH. Apart from gameplay, any other important differences between the two?

Thanks, in advance, for your help.

Regards,

Regards,

I've played both and I find T2 to be a lot more fun.

more customization, builds are more unique, no spending half your time crawling through the AH to get upgrades... I also like that the worlds/dungeons don't appear to be randomly generated (at least, I can log out and not log back in to find a wholly new/unexplored dungeon spawned around me), although (imo) the worlds are still a bit too sprawling.

I'm a total completionist when it comes to exploring, but I feel like the worlds are just so large and monsters so plentiful, that it causes me to out-level the main quest areas.

my other complaints are mostly just nit-picky stuff... I wish the world map were more usable and I wish there was a full-respec option without having to use the cheat console.

So I want to keep playing but my hand hurts

Now it's *really* beginning to feel like a Diablo deja vu to me.

A3. Stumbled against it by hugging the walls.Game is very polished.

So I went through more of Act 3. You eventually get a key from a quest to access the dragon tower, the buff just lets you skip the quest if you so choose. Not as epic as I thought it would be(a whole secret tower), but still fun none the less.

Ya, I do outlevel the guys, but its usually not by much. I did a full clear, just finished act 3 and I was only 4 levels ahead of the monsters. It doesnt make much of a difference, its 20 stat points and 4 skill points. I have 10 unused skill points because I got so much from Fame.

Regards,

Tried Diablo 3 and Torchlight 1. Found both of them to be boring and lacking in depth.

Due to the rave reviews and people foaming at the mouth, I decided to try Torchlight 2. And I find it addictive and fun. I don't know what separates it from TL 1 (maybe it's the side quests and more diverse tilesets), but it is definitely fun.

Now, don't expect too much depth to it. It does definitely have more depth to it than Diablo 3, but if ARPG turn you off for their lack of depth and repetitive clicking, TL 2 is no different.

Also, I find the story to be weak, at least initially (haven't played enough to tell). I find it quite surprising that Runic made no attempt to explain the backstory of the TL world (except for the short introduction), even though the story seems to somewhat continue from TL 1. I had a hard time understanding some of the characters and events they mention in TL 2, such as who the heck the Alchemist is.

Overall, it's a good game, especially for those who were solely disappointed by Diablo 3.

Do you think you enjoyed it more because you played further into the game? The one thing about these Action RPGs is that your characters can be ridiculously weak and especially boring in the beginning. I found this really true in Diablo III as you usually don't have any interesting abilities until around level 20. In Torchlight II, I think I had my Purply Wolf Dash of Healing Awesomeness (I really need to learn the real name for this) within five or ten levels.

It's these crazy and iconic abilities that let us mow down legions of weaklings that can make these games crazy fun. If you can't charge into battle and cackle while casting your awesome abilities, then the Action RPG in question is just junk.

it wasn't until around level 20 that I realized I could give spells to my pet instead of myself..

I'm kinda thinking about starting over with a higher difficulty level, though.

Are the uniques supposed to drop very often? I have found maybe 8 and I am level 26. I guess I am lucky? Maybe this is why I like TL2 more than D3 right now, I don't find complete garbage loot.

Just finished the game. I enjoyed acts 1-3, but couldn't manage to enjoy act 4. My fps dropped to 10 the whole time, and it was hard to fight the final boss with the hitbox being half the screen. Yes, I'm running it on a 9300m, but I wish they had worked on the final act a bit more. I understand that they only had 2 weeks to polish the final level and work out the kinks.

Overall great game. Probably not going to do New Game+, but gonna start some different characters.

WTF are the recipes with gems? Its not like TL1 where you combine 2+ of the same to get a higher grade... ooops.

So is this game on physical media or only digital download? My internet is a sucky 7.5Mbps so I'd like to do some offline gaming.
