Just checked the Engineer class and it looks fewkin awesome!

I wanted to try the Berserker but I don't like fist weapons and totem management so i'll pass on this one.

But the engineer...damn looks fun!

Game seems alot of fun so far.

Played some Berserker and Embermage. I usually don't like casters in ARPGs but it works in TL2. I might roll with Embermage first when the game comes out.

I've been waiting for this game instead of D3, and now I'm happy I did

Whats the Berserker like? Anything simular to a rogue?

What exactly makes it similar to a Rogue anyway? It cannot stealth. It does appear to be more Dexterity-based, but Torchlight has never really made such a distinction. The class does offer plenty of on-crit passives, which is why I would state that it is Dexterity-based.

You don't have to use fist weapons. My berserker is using two swords right now. The only thing you may want to keep in mind is that using two weapons of the same type enables the Execute capability.

Also, what totems? I never had any totems to deal with. Trust me... once you get to try Purply Wolf Dash of Healing Awesomeness, you will not turn back!

Berserker is like a dual wielder and has a variety of skills, but i think the ones that really set him apart are kind of turn him into a werewolf to attack. He can also heal himself with some of attacks.

I thought he was pretty fun.

no idea what the other poster meant about totems. i didn't see anything like that.

Ah ok, at work could not look up the classes, by rogue i might a duel wielding class. Sounds like that is the one i will try some. I tried the ranged guy a bit, don't think that was the class for me with the gun and magic.

I tried out playing Outlander. mixed feeling about it. The guns werent that powerful, I think this is suppose to the the ranger character which I typically stay away from. Maybe I will try out the engineer since I have some time still.

If anyone is interested in joining a TL2 clan, please PM me.

I had a lot of fun playing that character, but I also had some trouble choosing good places to put my talent points. The problem arises from Torchlight's talent system where talents can be bolstered up to Rank 15. Typically, the effectiveness of the talent goes up, but so does the cost. Raising the mana cost of Purply Wolf Dash of Healing Awesomeness can be a bit prohibitive when your class does not actively try and get more mana or intelligence.

Before I enchanted my gear, it wasn't uncommon for me to run out of mana on large groups or groups with heavy magic damage. The times when I used my potions was prior to enchanting and I would fight more than one named at a time. Post-enchanting, I received a few +mana enchants (they're random) and some +intellect enchants, which bolstered my mana by quite a bit. That's one of the big reasons why I was able to take down large packs with ease near the end of my playtime.

Ultimately, I spent a lot of points in the +damage passive. It also increases frost damage, which is pretty useless to me at this point. Although, thinking about it now, it might be good if I put frost gems in my weapons or get weapons with innate frost damage. There's another passive that causes you to heal on crit (or was it a chance to heal on crit), which I spent some points on.

Played the Beserker to about 10 last night. The gameplay was fast, fun, and the "Purply Wolf Dash of Healing Awesomeness" lived up to its name.

I tried it for 5 min and didn't like it.

I'm just not a big fan of click to move in general. Also the fixed view is irritating.

How long is act 1 btw? What level roughly are you when you beat it?

The beta is capped at level 21 and I had hit that prior to entering the final dungeon. Keep in mind that I had completed every quest, explored ever nook and cranny, and killed literally every mob on the map, so I was over leveled.

Ah cool, how was the last boss of Act 1? Did it seem different then other mobs?

Let's put it this way: Engineer, Level 21, had my sentry gun up to level 4 deployed, and had my health bot level 5 deployed, and I just stood there whacking away at the boss. I never got hurt and the boss was killed in less than a minute. WAAAAAAYYYY TOOOOOO Overpowered.

I also ended up with almost 100 Big Health Potions (step up from regular). I think I died 4 times the whole game.

Oh, and this was on Veteran level. Game gets ridiculously easy very quickly.

Ah interesting. Sounds like a long fight, but how easy it was is a bit concerning on veteran.

On a side not can you remove gems from sockets or does it destroy them?

I believe it's still the same as Torchlight 1. You either destroy the gems and save the item or destroy the item and save the gems.

yep, it's the same. I did notice one weapon have 4 gem slots. Never saw that in TL1.

While I was able to play the Beta, unfortunately Runic has yet to link my account to my Beta account, so I can't access the Beta forums.
