Bought this for 4.99. It is really fun but I managed to somehow get my character stuck between a bridge pillar and a rock. Dont ask me how. But is there anyway to get her out? I tried portaling to town and back but it places me in the same spot.

I am the king of finding these problems in games. If there is terrain to get stuck on I will find it.

Had the same issue. Ended up going to town and re-running down through the levels.

Bought it for $9.99 and well, ended up buying it for my wife, brother in-law; and then a buddy of mine when I found out it was $4.99.

Conveniently(?) enough, we ended up being snowed in for a few days right afterwards and played the heck out of it; I did find that it was pretty easy (in comparison to Diablo and Titan Quest) and that's actually a good thing, as I can just play on hard/very hard and my wife can play in easy/normal as she's not much into gaming.

Oh, and I'm playing Destroyer on hard.

I was playing it for a few days straight when I had some time off and I think i got some arthritis-like symptoms in my left hand from all the hotkey clicking. On the hardest setting the clicking can get kind of intense.

I'm tempted to start over on a harder level- I think i'm playing on easy or medium...I am so far ahead of everyone else, I don't EVER come close to dying. I can take out a boss in about 3 hits...it's fun, but not a challenge at all.

There is a mod released that will change the difficulty without labeling the char as a 'cheater'

i'm using an alchemist at lvl 44 or so.. I equipped my dog with a heal all + fireball VI.

As skills go, I'm not a pure summoner, but it really helps as an Alchemist to have extra NPCs on your side... I mainly use a level 6 beam golem(very helpful), one of those hovering ember gems that shoot automagically, skeleton archers VI, and summon zombies.

As far as attack spells, I mainly use those green magic missile-type things that knock the opponent back. i'm maxed out a lvl 10 on that one. Also, instead of the ember lance, i use the ember strike - same concept except it's more like death from above in a certain radius.

i find it interesting that certain high level rare/unique items are better than items in a set - even if you have more than 1 item in that set.

For weapons, config 1 is a 2-handed unique staff that does ~890 dps, and config 2 is 2 rare wands for ranged attack.

Play on Hard, it's a bare minimum for challenge in this game, I didn't even bother trying Easy or Medium, I simply jumped in to the Hard difficulty. On Hard you level up slower compared to Easy and Medium (and very slightly faster than Very Hard) according to the official Runic discussion forums (the developers), additionally dying on Hard not only can happen, but it happens often enough. I for one after 22 hours of game-play and level 53 with my warrior ended up dying exactly 57 times according to my journal statistics, and I used 2,223 pots (I think they count both mana and health potions). But one of the reasons why I died so often is simply because I neglected the Frost Shield skill, which I can now confirm is absolutely essential for any warrior builds (significantly reduces physical damage, elemental damage and you resist against knock-back effects much better).

It's my only character so far, I'll get to level 100 with him, after which I'll start with a caster on Very Hard, and I kept some items specific for that class during my current play-through and put those items in the shared stash in town, I'll be prepared for that game with those items, I only need to get to their required levels and stats to use them, and if there's one thing I love about this game is the shared stash, if Diablo had something like that it would have saved me lots of time and troubles (and lots items due to lost connections during transferring). It's a lot of fun, and one of the mods I'm using is adding a new side-quest-giving NPC in town, the quests are very well done and balanced (you need to gather pieces of maps to transmute them later on to create a portal, but I won't say more than that).

What mod is that? I'd love to find it for myself.

Hold down the attack button. Also hold down the same button to move in that direction continuously.

Ahhh so the shared stash lets you move items between characters? That's pretty slick.

I neglected frost shield because I kill everything. If I bump the difficulty up, I will have to revisit that.

I have not used this, but this looks like the utility people are using to change difficulties. http://bit.ly/7vFbbi

Awesome, thanks!

This game is too easy IMO. I am playing on Very Hard with Hardcore and still it's too easy. Enjoyable game but a bit bored of it.

There's a mod out there that also lets you ramp up the difficulty beyond Very Hard if you're cruising through VH. The mod adds two more difficulty levels, with the first being twice as hard as Very Hard and the second being 4 times as hard as Very Hard.

If you want HARD get the "Epic Boss Maps" mod. The dungeons are FILLED with Epic Bosses.

If you want to level like a fool and get good loot, get that mod, and get the "All Uniques" mod too so everything drops uniques (Orange, Blue and Purple items).

If you want to get greedy and really cause some damage get the mod that lets you level up to 200+.

There's also a great mod that lets you bump your tree abilities all the way up to 20.

I'm currently dishing out 250,000 damage with crit hits (which is about 50% of the hits).

If I equipped my pet with a ring\necklace that has a 1% extra exp skill, will that apply to me as well?

Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately my attack mouse hand is my right hand. I just play through the pain because it is so addictive

That's a good question...

Your pet does level up separately from you. You could always just do some simple math to see...

True, but if i were to do the math, my coolness to nerd ratio would be thrown off balance, destroying the universe in the process.

Gotta tell ya this game is great. I have not found a RPG since the days NES/Super NES Zelda and Final Fantasy series that I have liked. I was not into gaing of any sort during the FATE days but might have to go back check it out based on this game.

I was going to read the posts about this game but they are up to 8 pages. That is time I could be playing TorchLight and so is the time I am writing this post. Going to play

After changing character from Alchemist to Vanquisher(and difficulty from easy to hard), the game was a lot more fun!!!

I initially was making a Bowazon like build with only 1 point in the freezing arrow skill. I had an excellent bow(Nomad Zapping Bow of Ice?) I was using that did 75 dmg and doing LOTS of critical hits with only a level 3-5 requirement up until I was level 10-12 or so. Then something happened. I saw an enchant shrine and decided to use it for the first time. It downgraded my bow and took the ice dmg off. My great Bow was now suddenly completely worthless. That was the first time I ever visited an enchant shrine, and I never visited one after that. That, in combination with me finding a rare single hand pistol with a level 10 requirement that did 175 dmg and had LOTS of critical hits/damage/flee/life/mana leech modification led to the death of a possible Bowazon build and brought life to my Trapassin build. I think I used that gun until level 22 or so when I found a rare shotgun that did 3xx dmg. I later found the Tsar cannon(5xx dmg, wow!) and equipped it as soon as I was eligible(level 28) to and that's still my current weapon at Level 38.

I was blasting everything away and never experienced any real challenge until fighting the boss Krag(or whatever his name is) at the lava stage. I still didn't die, but it gave me quite a challenge and I kept on asking Jesus, when the fook is he going to die...Until I discovered the people healing him at different corners of the room.

I blasted away at everything putting only 1 skill point in Flame and Flechette trap until the last level to the boss and spent 20 skill points like crazy. I maxed both Flechette and lightning traps to 10 each. I still have 20+ skill points to use remaining.
Maybe it's just me, but the lightning trap doesn't seem all that great. I only use it when fighting those champion monsters and game bosses.

My general strategy is put 2 Flechette traps, summon 5 Skeletons. If there are tons of monsters and/or uniques, add 2 Lightning trap, the trap that reduces defense/armor, and raising Zombies.

The game got increadibly harder for some reason when I reached Mirror Palace.
Those female elve things that can raise enslaved skeletons and do those 6-8 poison missile attack. I had 1,300+ HP and that missile attack brings it down to about 400HP even with 102 poison elemental absorb. That was when I discovered resistances in the game were based on numbers and NOT percentages like in Diablo. Fail. After that I removed all my crap "resist" gear(An armor that provided +50 to all resist but only had 20 defense or so) and went for better/more useful stats on equipment. Elemental resist is completely useless in this game IMO.

I'm a bit pissed that I didn't discover that I could buy dungeon maps sooner from that lady until I got to Mirage palace. I could have leveled up much faster than I did.

I did a lot of fishing in the beginning and gave my pet a glob jelly which did absolutely nothing besides turning him into a jelly. I didn't feed him again until Mirage palace and saw him turn into a mimic...pretty cool. I still have lots of fish to try too!
They seriously need to increase stash size!!!
I've created a gem mule, and item mule that has items I can use in case I want to start a Barbarian build. Also, maybe it's just me but it seems like I was finding 4x more magical items than I was with my Alchemist build...All I had was a total of +2 find more items from equipments earlier in the game. My Alchemist is still stuck at Level 12 and might not see me play him to end. I think I only saw 1-2 orange items with my Alchemist. Before I had reached that same level with my Vanquisher, I had seen 10+!

The more difficult part of the game:
Phase portals.
The NPC's portal in town.
Level 30-??? dungeon maps.
Mirrage palace and every floor after it.

Everything else in the game on "hard" was a freaking joke(yes, I said it) even without me taking advantage of dungeon maps like other people are/have.

All in all, it was an excellent game and clearly worth the $10 I paid for it and the $20 MSRP. I would like to play using the Barbarian, However I don't have the time to start this game again with another character or very hard difficulty setting because I have to install and play other steam games I bought. Time is of the essence.

I've never played Rome: Total War, Bioshock, Stalker, Mass Effect, Morrowind, Freedom Force, and Defense Grid.
All these things are just to serve as a hold over for me until DNF's release.

I've beaten the game and did all the robot, find ember, retrieve item quests.
Is there anything else after that? I see 2 people I can talk to after I beat the game telling me to kill someone on Floor 1. Do their own mission ever end like the others and if so, after how many quests? Does the Dungeon map(level 30-???) that can be bought in town ever end?

One more thing.
WTF is the point of those Ballistas at that medieval castle stage? I clicked on each and everyone of them, all they do is shoot but I never notice anything happening after that. Is there something I'm missing?

Starcraft II, here I come!

I don't know if the post-storyline missions ever end, but I doubt it considering it's supposed to be an Endless Dungeon. I think...

Ballistas hurt enemies I believe, but they're never positioned right and so they're worthless and should be ignored.

I have used the ballistas a couple of times. To get them to hit the mobs takes some doing. You need to run straight at the ballistas with the mob following you and then swing around the end real quick and fire them. Standing directly behind the ballista is key to keep the mob coming straight at it. Most of the time I ignore the ballistas due to the effort involved getting the mobs lined up just right. It can be done but its more of a hassle than its worth IMO.

It's too bad you got burned by the enchant shrine on your first visit, those things are friggin awesome. Enchanting in general is pretty sweet. I'm currently critting for around 21k on explosive shot thanks to a duel wielding heavily enchanted ~1000 dps and ~850 dps pistols at level 51. But if you do it at the shrine instead of the guy in town, it doesn't cost any money and the disenchant chance is a lot smaller. Best of all, they're reuseable if you let the level reset. I found 4 of them throughout the story dungeon, and I frequently take the waypoints back to those floors in order to use them again. Only twice have I had an item get wiped, though occasionally the shrine will do nothing as well. After the disenchant % reaches 10, I quit, as the risk is too great.
