I played the demo for two nights I find this game to be very entertaining and satisfying to play. I thought the cartoon-ish graphics would produce weak graphics, but I was wrong. The graphics blend in really quickly after you start to play, and the visuals in dungeons are actually pretty good. I run my game very easily max at 1920x1080 on 920@4ghz & 275gtx. Sometimes the load screen disappear so fast I can't even finish reading the tips

There are only two things that I find disappointing about the game:

1. Equipment description menu layout. I love the idea of the built-in auto equipment comparison interface when you put your cursor over an item. But I find the layout of the comparison interface a little confusing and hard to read. (Even now, I still worry that I might be selling the wrong item).
-Is there a mod out there that improves the current menu layout? For example: Highlights the "(equipped)" word in the equipment description or provide consistent menu sizing for equipped vs non-equipped items/equipment?

2. "Single-Player Mode-only" makes you wonder if anyone will ever see all the cool shit that you have with your character. I look forward to the multiplayer mod that I have heard a lot about, and thanks to those guys for working on them.

Ya its pretty fun. It has many hours of gameplay. I have got to be already over 15 hours on my first character and I am only level 32. For $20 its a pretty good steal.

If people like diablo type action rpgs, then they should like this.

The game does have some flaws but....bleh.

I started playing this with the demo originally then I purchased the full game off Steam. I'm playing Normal with a Destroyer called Tiny (I found that amusing) with a cat named Furball .

I took some of the advice and gave my pet a Heal All 2 spell. Although, I'm still kinda stuck on what talents to go for overall.

Here's a talent calculator for the game:

http://calc.torchlightinsider.com/index.php?c=1

I've just never been sure whether or not to max out talents when they're the whole upgradable ability thing not the flat ability with level-based upgrades (like in WoW).

On Normal i'm pretty sure it won't matter, you could probably go through the whole game with nothing but 1/10 of the first ability

Yea, I'm playing very hard hardcore and it's still pretty easy.

I'm playing normal and it's incredibly easy - kind of wishing I had chosen a harder difficulty, but I don't want to start over now. But all in all, a good fun game.

There's a console command that allows you to change difficult mid-game without being flagged as a cheater (which locks you out of the shared stash).

I would recommend you explore the Torchlight forums for it.

I haven't really played it since I finished it. I finished with the Vanq. I started a character on each of the other 2 classes I didn't play. I really don't care for the wizard class (can't remember the real name). Most of the spells just suck.

Vanq and Destroyer are better imo, but even then most of the abilities just suck or seem worthless compared to the 1 or 2 good abilities.

stash is too small, even with shared stash.

I had a ton of fun on the 1st play through but subsequent ones are meh. I was the same with the Diablo games as well.

Agreed there's not much after the single player storyline... BUT this game is more about the mods. Go get some mods!!!!!

interview w/ runic games ceo regarding the torchlight mmo... http://www.giantbomb.com/the-future-of-torchlight/17-1676/
Very cool. Most of what they've talked about seems very familiar to those of us who played Mythos. And that's a good thing; Mythos was awesome.

Did you catch the bit about the mod tools? I didn't realize they were so full featured. It sounds like you do do a complete TC with different classes and skills if you were talented enough (to me it seems like the art would be hard to do).

You hear some people already bored with Torchlight and I get that. But it never really was expected to be this long lasting game, at least without mods. To me it's just a fun game to pick up whenever and if I'm bored one day I can go try out some mods. For $20 it's a steal and I wanted to support Runic.

Yeah if you haven't checked out the mods or the editor you definitely should. The editor will let you make your own talents or tweak the existing ones if you don't have ones you like for the class.

Ultimate Mod Thread

If you are looking for a new class check out Gale's Torchlight Overhaul which adds a Barbarian class and tweaks other things about the game also. I know he plans to do all three classes eventually.

If you are bored with the dog or cat, check out Vagrant's Pet Transmogrification Potions. This allows you to buy or have potions drop that change the dog/cat to wolves, panthers, jaguars, etc.

Do you hate fishing but wish you had fish for your pet? ihatefishing makes mobs drop fish also so you don't have to fish. Add the Fish Mash mod and you can now combine stacks of fish for higher level fish.

im by the dwarves with a alchemist and it can open up a can of whoop ass. By level 25, it has 2 more pets, shoots laser out of it's palm, and has a drone circle around it that fires laser to everything, and one of the 2 pets too shoot laser. it's amazing.

Just a heads up, Torchlight is currently $9.99 on Steam, and it received new features such as Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud. I think I'll buy it at that price, since I'm disappointed with how D2's patch 1.13 is turning out, I don't have much choice to fill up my desire for some hack n' slash.

Where are the achievements listed? I wonder if I can still earn them as I'm running a ton of Mods (level 200 here I come!)

I'll buy it. I'd like to know what is the most "popular" web-site to look for if I want to use mods? The first Google result was www.runicgamesfansite.com, is that one the best one to look in? Just want to be sure.
