Torrents are NEVER GREEN....need some nat help

I'm using a WRT54G that cannot be flashed with DDWRT and Im stuck at yellow.

I've forwarded ports, used random ports, and even arranged static IP addresses both in router and in windows, BUT nothing works.

I've been wanting to try linux isos, but at the rate they go, I might as well order CD's.

Anyone have any tips for getting green.

I've tried azureus and utorrent but neither work out. In utorrent it says "port closed" in azureus its "NAT Error" or "Could not communicate with XX.XXX.XX.XX"

Sounds like you're doing it wrong. Are you sure you set them up correctly? Your ISP could be to blame, in which case you cannot do anything besides switch internet providers.

Try enabling UPNP and use utorrent. That should be able to do the port mappings automatically for you.

There is no average because it depends on how many people are seeding, and what bandwidth those people are seeding at. With a popular torrent I can max out my 3mbit connection. Which is around 350kb/sec.

It sounds like you need to port forward the torrent port in your router to your machines IP address. There are details on the web to walk through for most torrent clients try googling for it really does help with torrent speeds.

specify the ports in the torrent apps, and forward both tcp/udp ports from your router to your machine ip address

Try using port range forward instead of port forwarding and see if that helps, just put the same port number in the start and end boxes. ie. if the the port you are forwarding is 1800 the value 1800 should be placed in both the start and end text boxes.
