Toshba Repair Depot... a nightmare !$@#$

Okay... I've had my laptop since July 03, and a few weeks ago it started overheating. So I called Toshiba Repair and they said they would look at it, and also replace the system board, because I was saying that the life expectancy of the laptop has gone down cause it was about 200F constantly.

So I send it out June 1, and they got it June 4, and they said that the video card was damaged, causing the overheating. So they had to replace the system board to fix it. However, it was on backorder.

So I wait forever, and they keep delaying the date they will receive it. On June 15, they finally receive the system board. For my complaining so much, they offered to give me $100 Toshiba credit, however, I said that I rather have a new keyboard, since the keys on mine were all worn down due to use of a year, and they agreed to replace it for no cost.

So they are replacing the systemboard, and they damage my dvd burner during the installation. Now the sytem board is working, but the DVD drive is damaged. Those too are on backorder, and have an even longer ETA. They estimate them to get in on June 24.

I complained that they damaged my laptop, however they refused to replace the whole laptop. All they offered me was $50 Toshiba credit. I refused it, because I felt $50 was no justification for them taking so long to receive and repair and damage the part in my laptop. If i use that $50, I will most likely have to add additional money plus shipping for anything I order from them, and theres no reason for me to spend more money on something I wasn't planning to buy in the first place.

Has anyone had any issues with the repair center there? They seem to be taking all the time they need, and theres really nothing I can do about it. They can take all the time they want, and I have no option other than to sit back and wait. Very annoying...

I've only had one experience with a Toshiba Repair Depot and it was actually quite decent. It was located near Pittsburgh PA. My LCD screen on my Portege 2000 went kaput on me a month after I got the laptop. So I dropped it off and I think I got it back a week later with a new screen... but this time with a dead pixel.

ah..

yea, i know someone who had a screen... no dead pixels... and the screen got damaged, and then when he got it repaired it had a dead pixel.... must suck

i called and they said the manager is now personally taking care of the laptop and is trying to have it repaired today

and they even said they are gonna do sat delivery for me...


if i only had a manager takeover 2 weeks ago...

Well... they promised me saturday delivery last weekend, and I stayed home all day, and there was no laptop received.

I called today, and they said they received the part on friday and it should have been sent out, but it wasn't. They said they are going to try to have it sent out today for next day air.

They have had my laptop for a total of 18 days, and all they offer me is a $50 Toshiba credit. You cannot buy anything for a laptop that is under $50, therefore if i want to use this, I will have to pay more of my own money to add to the $50 to use it, which I don't even need anything to begin with.

The manager said that he feels that if he were in my position that $50 is enough, because they don't have to offer anything at all. I said that even though they don't HAVE to offer anything, they should as a reliable and reasonable company, cause they said this whole process should take about 3 business days, not 3 weeks.

well, i have a toshiba laptop and one of my co-worker also have a toshiba laptop. He sent it back to the depot and when he receive it back the back of the lcd cover was cracked. He called toshiba, but they say it's not their problem. I will never sent mines back. i'll bring it to their local shop (i think there is a listing of independant places who are authorized by toshiba to do repairs.) Maybe that might be a better idea.

I just read in Business 2.0 that Toshiba is now outsourcing their repair work to UPS! That's write, the guys in brown! Weird huh? THe article explains the reasoning... not convinced, but whatever...

hmm i sent my satellite to the toshiba repair depot coz of a overheating problems and they fixed it and returned it within a week .. imo they did a good job...
