well i found out that the celerons in laptops have 256k cache (the desktop ones have 128k) the p4's all have 512k (well northwood desktops do).
so i decided i wouldnt upgrade, since a p4 1.6 is $70 shipped or so on ebay, and i figured it wouldnt make much difference. anyways, i was still curious as to how the laptopw as constructed. i unscrewed the plastic bar above the keyboard, and pryed it off, i also took the keyboard off. there is a heat spreader under the keyboard, but apparently this isnt a laptop that is easily upgraded (unlike some other laptops, where the heatspreader woul djust come off and cpu would be right there).
this would requires taking all the casings off, etc. i didnt think it was worth my time since i wasnt going to actually do the upgrade.
sucks the hard drive and cpu are on the bottom side, so you need to take the keyboard off, then unscrew the screws inside under the keyboard, then unscrew all the screws on the bottom ,and then you should be able to open the whole computer. assuming you didnt lose any screws, it'd just be a pop of the zif socket, and new cpu you go.
