Well, the BUY guys are at it again. I was just at the web page and they changed the description for the 2nd time. There is no longer the line that says "Software included : Hollywood Plus S/W", but they STILL left other references to the decoder card. Instead of editing the thing one line at a time, they ought to just leave it with no description if they can't get it right. I think the only way that any one of us will get the card is the way I just am trying by sending in the printout of the page that has the decoder & software on it before they changed it. They also snail mailed me a return UPS voucher....I already had shipped it using the one I was emailed earlier. I guess I can use that one when I get another bare drive.

how can I tell if they credited me $20 ? I haven't recieved a e-mail, nothing in the shopping cart, or any other notification... Could anyone help?

LOL ghouldini. I got two snail mail labels for the one drive I had already shipped off. And you will be getting another bare drive. I've got two here in my room.

If you are trying to get the bundle it's impossible, I call them and ask them why they send me the same thing again and all the said is sorry the description is wrong, oh well I cancel and about to get the SCSI bundle one.

Well.....got me a package Friday.

NO. Got the bare drive again, just like you all thought. So I called the guy I talked to before. He talked once again with the dweebs hiding in the background. They finally admitted it was the wrong description posted when I ordered. But because of the hassle and them posting the wrong info, they offered me the other model that has the bundle for half of the difference and I could use 20 off 100 like I did. I did not know if they meant I could use it again, or they just take it from the old order....I had got it at $100.95 less $20 off $100 plus the shipping. That was before the free shipping. Came to $87.33 shipped. I told them I would have to get back on that because if I do that I would have to have them change my credit card # to apply the difference, which I figured was another $30 or abouts. Someone got our CC# and charged their big a$$ phone bill to it, so we had to cancel it. I also wanted to check the other possible coupon scenarios to see if it would run the same by just ordering it straight out with the $150 coupon. This deal was better. I figured it was about $116 for it if they didn't add any shipping. So I called back to verify the deal (what it was going to cost in addition to the $87.33), and the CSR I talked to this time did not transfer me to the guy I had before (with his extension #). I got sent to the person who fixes credit card info since I was told I would be sent there eventually anyway. This nice lady removed my old CC# and then looked at my profile with the most recent info about the "deal" inputed by the guy for me........
I can't babble any further now until verification.

Meanwhile, I found out this....I got a V3/3000 AGP with TV-out (which I mentioned in an earlier post). Seems there is a card in the box for getting DVD software for the shipping costs ($3.95). I don't know what brand of software it is, theirs or if lucky the Cyberlink one. Anyone know? I called their phone number, got answering machine, left message, never got reply. I will try again Monday.

I think I just did. Some guy is selling a V3/3000 in the For Sale forum and in the ad it said includes WinDVD CD. Apparently he ordered it. Is that any good? Think I will do a search on it.

WinDVD on CD comes with the Aopen Geforce2 MX video card. At least I think it does, since I bought a bunch of stuff at once I'm not positive. So if your looking for a new video card and a software dvd player....

I have a question. I have a friend who bought a package from buy.com and it didnt come with some of the components (just like in this case). So he called them, and they sent him another one. A couple of days later he got the RMA package that he needed to use to send it back. In his account apparently it shows that package as a normal purchase (the only difference is a note on the reciept saying you wont be charged for this purchase).

The problem is he's been out of the country for two months (he emailed me about this issue).

If we don't talk about ethics for a moment, what are the repercussions of his not sending the card back? His credit card is now maxed out too so i dont think they can charge him for the package.

I just was wondering if anyone had this kind of an experience before. What happens usually in cases like this?

If you have Jurassic Park on DVD, it includes a software DVD
player (called PCFriendly). It installs automatically when
you insert the DVD in the drive for the first time. It seems
to work fine, and has a pretty nice user interface.

On a related note, buy.com refunded me $20 for not getting
the decoder card with the Toshiba DVD drive. So the total
was $70 (shipping and taxes included) for a new 12X drive
If you got the bare drive, call buy.com and ask them for a
price adjustment.

has anyone else gotten a price adjustment? (sorry, but my experience with customer service lately has been AWFUL )

EDIT: I talked to them about my tax and they said they couldn't do anything about it (grumble) but I was able to get the $20 adjustment

Now, all I need is software
