This is an incredible deal. I bought last year's Toshiba 40" model on Black Friday from Newegg and it was $500 plus $30 shipping. This model is $100 cheaper. There isn't much room for prices to go down much more on 40" models. So yes, this is a "Black Friday" caliber deal. Of course, last year there was bing cashback....

There are some negative reviews on Newegg about Toshibas breaking after a year or two, but those reviews obviously aren't for the model Newegg is selling. I wouldn't worry about them too much.

I see nothing in the Newegg reviews that would lead me to believe that the reviews are for any other model, aside from the fact that some of the reviewers have owned their displays long enough for them to go out of warranty and break. Personally, I don't think it's out of the question to think that a few people could have owned this model for a little over a year and had it fail on them.

I bought a 27" Toshiba LCD a few months back. The picture quality isn't amazing. In fact, it's poor enough to have kept me from biting on this deal, despite how hot the price was.

Always appreciate a challenge...so here it goes. I own last year's Toshiba 40" LCD, and I've had no problems with it, and I can tell you that the linked model wasn't available when I bought mine in November 2009, so all those negative reviews DEFINITELY aren't for the new model if they're over a year old and "out of warranty".
