CS said they have a hold on it b/c it's a price error - no one is able to buy it. Told me the correct price is closer to $1700...

<< projection tv's suck....they are unclear and u can see the lines...but thats just my opinion

u can go compare for yourselfs....

look at a projection tv and a HDTV...you will defn see a BIG difference, but for less than $700 its a bargain.

just to let u know, i got a sony HDTV 53' for 1500 plus free Hitachi dvd player.
>>

I didn't know Sony made a 53 foot screen? If you mean a 53" (inch) screen, the biggest direct view TV Sony makes is the 40" Wega, so that means you have a projection TV too. So make up your mind, does your Sony 53" projection HDTV suck or not?

Dude c'mon, read it again and its obvious that falconx means Projection tvs WITH HDTV don't suck, w/o HDTV they suck...

First, bump for an outstanding deal. Second, this is NOT an HDTV or HD-capable, however, this still retails at $1,600, so you are saving $1000 AND GETTING FREE SHIPPING AND NO TAXES. If I didn't live in a dorm and had $600 this baby would be mine.

I heard that normal tv looks fine on a non-HD projection tv, but looks terrible on a HD projection tv and really needs a good HD signal feed to look nice.

Hey guys,

I just called to order a few of these for both bathrooms in my house ...The girl said they aren't able to put in orders on this television. They are waiting for one of their higher ups to get back to the customer service floor to find out if it was a mistake in price, if they have any left, and if it would be free shipping. She suggested that I call back sometime tomorrow to see if they have had an update.

Leave it in your shopping cart and keep checking every day, it may come into stock and will let you finish the order at the $675 price. I did that with the Crucial 256 DDR ram.

<< CS said they have a hold on it b/c it's a price error - no one is able to buy it. Told me the correct price is closer to $1700... >>

A very good reason to leave it in the cart!!

Mrwade,

I would erase that suggestion if I were you. A few slipping through might work but 100's won't.

Dang! That thing is selling for $1500 at the cheapest price. It's available for delivery in my area, BUT then it's not available. They must have left out a 1 or a 2 in the price.

Does anyone know if this is a current model or a discontinued model. Just asking as they might not restock this if it's already gone. Bummer. And for those who think this deal is too good to be true, and no way in hell they'll sell at this price, tell that to the person who got plasma tv for free!

The 61A60 is indeed a discontinued model. Check on toshiba's website only shows a 61A61 with an MSRP of 2099.99. So it's not too far fetch if they wanted to get rid of their stock for a $675 price. This is Toshiba's low end Projection TV. It's very unlikely they'll stock this again. Wonder if any BB still have this. Maybe Sear's will PM, but I'm unsure if Sears carry this TV.

Damn!

<< arent all projection tvs the same (HD or not) unless they actually have an HD feed? >>

yes they are...

and allso, sony's 40" screen is the largest 4:3 non-projection screen available, and probably will be forever. I was talking to a buddy in the industry, and he said the components are just is too damn expensive for them to make any bigger glass screen tv's, and he doesn't expect them to come out with larger ones in the foreseeable future, if ever.

I have a 46" Magnavox rear projection that is about 8 years old.....the picture is great! People who see it think it is not a rear projection because unlike most that you cannot see from the side, the picture on mine is viewable from all side in front of the screen......I left the 61" one in my cart just in case.......just maybe......

HeHe...All I can say is that they must be some pretty stupid people. The picture on the best rear projection televisions is still worse than the cheapest made tube television and adertising an HDTV capable projection television is even more a joke. No respecting videophile would be caught deal with a rear projection television. If you want HDTV, buy a technology actually capable of displying it. (Or you could buy three or four of these and sell them on eGay and then buy real television)

I checked my local BB at lunch and they didn't even have this model on
display, so doing a PM probably won't work (for me at least). Will have
to wait with one in the shopping cart and see what happens.

do you have any idea what you're talking about? ANY HDTV rear projection set with an HD feed will look better than the best analog tube set. granted rear projection HDTV sets may not be able to resolve the full specification of HDTV (especially if they are using 7" crt's) but they will display a much better picture than could the best analog set that has a maximum resolution of about 500 lines (and interlaced at that!) i don't own a rear projection HDTV set yet, but i'v seen high def on them and they are beautiful. and yes, an HDTV capable Digital set like a Wega might have a sharper picture, but that's a digital set not an analog.
