Toshiba PCX DOCSIS modem with USB conectivity for $150 - $100 rebate= $50. The rebate does not require new activation of service. I picked one up at the local BB along with a free connect pack which includes some misc. cables and software. Mine was an open box item with another $20 knocked off so it was even sweeter.

I thought for sure new activation would be required but there's no mention of it on the rebate form.

IT'S IN THE FINE PRINT AT THE BOTTOM

the model is the pcx 1100U. and it has both a usb port and an ethernet port. The rebate goes to young america under the name comcast $100 rebate.

I'm going to call about it and make sure there are no catches on getting the $100 before I cut the upc off. I actually bought it for someone else.

I bought this at the BB in Hickory Hollow mall, Nashville, TN

This deal doesn't appear to be happening in the Nor Cal BBs. I just went over there and double checked and it did not show on the shelf tags or in the computer. bummer

What are the stipulations/requirement listed on the rebate printout? Since this is a BestBuy purchase, it should state all the qualifying conditions at the bottom of the register rebate receipt.

Not so hot for those who already have Comcast cable service. It says on a rebate form that it is only for new subscribers, so if any of you guys are thinking to sign up, this is one more incentive for you to do so.

I've finally gotten to look at my rebate certificate more closely. It does say new residential customers. the rebate goes to young america, MN with a gillion other rebates. How do you think they cross reference this ?

I pay $120 a year for cable modem rental, so this sounds enticing. However, a friend of mine got transfered from Adelphia to Comcast and they set him up with a Motorola modem. I have an RCA modem right now. With Comcast's new network coming in a few months, I'd hate to buy something that works now, but not later.

can you scan and post a copy of your reciept
so if ours does not print out we can get an "instant" pricematch

Just got back from BB looking for this modem. Rules say that existing @home customers are NOT eligible, but I'm going to call them tomorrow just to confirm. I also currently rent my modem from Comcast and would like to get one. Also, this modem supports both USB and Ethernet, so you can plug two computers into the same modem. This would be very handy for my notebook.

I also got in on this, and noticed the having to be a new customer part. But I think this is good on more than just the Toshiba modem, since I also had to buy the Comcast Connectivity kit. BB wouldn't print up the rebate reciept with just the modem, so I asked about it and the said I had to get the kit too, except it was $5 and not free. When they showed me the computer screen, I saw some other line items and thought I read DOCSIS in there, but I couldn't make it all out. Also, they take down a lot of your info as if you're buying a cell phone or Direct TV... not sure if they're getting you for service charge or not, but the cashier didn't say anything about it when I asked. : (

damn, this would be a hot deal if it allowed existing customer's to get in on it

not only am I renting a modem, I'm renting a crappy modem (Com21-the packet loss champ)

Maybe if I cancel my service, then sign up again? But then I might get charged a connection fee....and have no internet for a few days!!! guess I can't do that either. :sigh;

I called the BB rebate center and talked with Jenifer. She was very helpful and agree that the rebate form itself is somewhat contradictory. she called the comcast rebate line while I was on the phone with her and got the final low down.

It must be a new sign-up. I was going to post the receipt and did scan it but I had to reboot my pc before saving it so it's gone and my wife has already left with the receipt to return the modem since she was going to be close to the BB later today. I don't think it would do anyone any good considering the latest poop.

I'm changing the original post to reflect the correct requirements.

My GF is about to sign up for Comcast. I guess she could get this, plus do the promo , which is buy the $50 kit from Comcast and get $100 - $50 for buying the kit = $50 which would pay for the modem after rebate... Am I reading it correctly?

Also, Best Buy is advertising a D-Link modem $130-$100 MIR - $30 MIR - $20 IR = $20 cashback if you buy the modem, Quickstart Kit, and sign up for Comcast. Is the $100 they're talking about the same $100 in the promo I linked to above or different (and can I get both! ) ?

Edit: dogbone, is your PM turned off on purpose?

I'm not sure, the rebate only illuded to the toshiba. BB did have some other items on the same table with this modem and start up kit, it may have been a D-link product. I thought it was probably a router, but I didn't really look at it closely.

As to the PM, I don't know if it's turned off or not. I usually listen to FM.

Actually I'm not conneted to the internet full time so I don't guess it would work most of the time.
