BB loses so much money on these deals its rediculous. best of luck to everyone who gets one. PS if anyone tells you they are out of stock I would double check the cages yourself

There's also a BB $100 off notebooks coupon which may or may not be allowed.

There's a thread at FW with coupon link and ad scan and discussion of coupon for interested parties.

Ok keep the Printer and and take my coupon

A good computer for students, however Toshiba always has problems with Linux or Free BSD distros.

PRINTER IS FREE!!! . . . you have to get the manager to discount it. I had to call corporate while in the store . . . while I was on hold, the manager called several other stores and they were having the same issues. Some were charging customers the $50 for the printer and some were not. So the guy said he would give it to me. I had bought the laptop with $100 coupon ahead of time, so he pricematched the laptop to the original price = $749 - $150 PM - $100 Coupon = $499 (+tax) for both laptop and printer. YMMV is the theme here, but if you are nice and persistant, it will work. I'm positive the only reason the manager gave it to me was b/c I was firm, but very nice. The newspaper ad and their computer system contradict one another. Good Luck.

i got mine today, used the $100.00 off coupon no problem, but they would not give me the printer for free, so i said keep the printer, i have 4 free printers already anyway from other deals, i did the laptop last week too for $379.00 with the coupon too, and could not get the free router either, right on the coupon it says not valid with any other offers, and the free printer and free router were both offers, so did not argue, since techinically they were right, i don't need the extra crap anyway.

the system will not automatically discount the printer, but if the cashier rings the coupon it will automatically discount the notebook.

The deal is still good, but your local store might have sold out of them. You'll have to check. Good luck!

hmm...I bought it first thing yesterday when they opened. My local BestBuy (Potomac Yards, VA) had 21 of them in stock. There was about 5 people that were buying them right off. Nobody got any other discount (i.e. coupon, or the free printer). I tried using the coupon, but they couldn't get it to work and it stated "not valid with any other offers", meaning that it was only on full priced laptops. Still a pretty good deal at $600. It's a pretty nice lappie. It's for my wife who will mainly use it for web surfing and games like bejewled. The processor is a crippled version of Yonah (it doesn't even show up on the Intel site). It's 1.6ghz because it's only 533mhz FSB vs. 667mhz of the regular Yonahs. I happened to have a 1.86ghz Yonah left over from my upgrade in my M1210 to a Merom, so I popped that one if, and it booted up without any problems. SuperPi 2M times went from 1m36s to 1m20s. Also, I was happy to see that the 512mb was in one stick and not two sticks of 256mb. An additional 512mb stick is only about $40, so you can get a gig for a little more.

Congratulations! When did you buy it?

I would assume that most busy stores would sell out within 4 hours of opening.

My dad, instead of jumping on this, bought a cheaper compaq laptop instead. The only difference between this and cheaper compaqs is the core duo instead of pentium M and 80 gigs instead of 60. Given that he only browse websites and do office related stuff, its good enough. He didnt know about the 100$ off coupon and im wondering if there is a way i can still use it on a opened box product? Return/rebuy?

Reviews for that Canon printer seem to be mostly positive...

I'm not sure if they actually lose money on it, but perhaps just not profit much from it. I used to work retail and when we sold DVDs on sale, they'd tell us we lose money on it, but in actuality the store still makes money, it's just below par, profit-wise.

Has anyone come up with any ways to improve the performance of this laptop????

At FW we have started a new thread to discuss this issue but I would venture a guess that Anandtech can do better...
