I don't think the comparison between the two is fair simply because they employ two totally different screen technologies. Toshiba uses reflective front lit screen and the wash out effect is normal due to the light distribution not been uniform. Just like 36/37/38 series Ipaq was side lit. Dell uses transreflective technology which means the screen is internally lit by LED's which gives it a uniform, bright backlight, much like notebooks do.

in this price range might want to look at Audiovox\ for 149.00AR
same machine as Toshiba minus 32 of ram. Actually compares closer to the Toshiba E570.

I'm looking at lots of PDA but it seems the "perfect" unit is not here yet. Maybe someday soon....

The Audiovox also uses the 206Mhz StrongArm processor, instead of the 300Mhz XScale processor of the E335. The Audiovox's IR one of the low range ones which sprouts from the side (good only for a few feet), unlike the Toshiba's top one which has a range that extends past 15' (good for use as a color universal remote). It's 7.3 ounces and .7" thick compared with 4.9 ounces and .4" thick (49% heavier, and 75% thicker).

One really nice thing about the Audiovox though, is it has a CF slot.

Thanks for the great deal! I just bought it! I just sold my old Palm V for $60 and I picked up a new one for $125. My only concern right now is whether I will get the $50 or the $100 rebate from Toshiba. The rebate page is really unclear on which one I'm eligable for...anyone know what's going on here?

just enter in your information and it will tell you if you are prequalified. Make sure you dont miss the very left and end right numbers of the UPC.

Okay, admittedly I'm being lazy here, but can someone tell me...

Can you connect the E335 to an 802.11b wireless network?
What's the best way to back up the data on these?
What kind of memory expansion do these handle?

Thanks!
as of right now...no. in the future there will be SD cards that have WiFI, but not yet.

A tip: turn off the record button by reassigning it to 'none' or something else. It's too easy to turn on accidentally... and drain your battery.

Anyone happen to have a saved jpg image of the OD $100 rebate good until 6/1. It seems like the rebate clearing house took the image off their site and now are only honoring rebates with a 5/9 or sooner purchase date.

Fam -

That's the one I'm using, Pocket Divx. Much better than the built in MS media player.

Mine shipped yesterday. Hopefully it'll be here before the end of the week...

does not come with a SD card. the thing you see is just a filler so crap and dust won't get into the slot.

I found it locked up my PPC when I installed in. Maybe a bad install file? I don't know. I went to PocketTV which is free and very small. Plays most movies very well (no Divx support, but I don't do anything in Divx anyway).

How does one price match Amazon (J&R Music)?

I did not see anything at Amazon at least that led me to believe that they support such an idea.

I know this sounds idiotic, but what number?

I've search around on Amazon's site and man, they really don't want you to contact a human if they can help it.
