Can anyone confirm OD has a 14-day satisfaction guarantee for its return policy?

I preferred the Best Buy $400 deal, but they had sold out.

No. According to their policies (ae least the ones posted online), laptops can't be returned at all, just exchanged for another one. Don't know what they do if they're all out of the same item.

I just picked up the same (or similar model) at Circuit City for the same price, although it included a Canon MP160 Pixma All-in-One Printer, D-Link wireless G router, and some crap internet security software FAR. I got it for my mom and opened it up to clean off some of the pre-installed junk off of it. So far the screen is nice and the speed is more than adequate. Good deal!

The receipt seems to confirm OD has a 14-day satisfaction guarantee (meaning no restocking fee so long as you return everything complete). I'm not going to be returning mine, although the $200 rebate is somewhat of a concern. The preinstalled junk doesn't seem too bad (correct me if I'm wrong), though I'm less picky about making PCs lean & mean than I used to be. I replaced the McAfee suite with AntiVir, and upgraded the dated version of WinDVD that seemed to have trouble with VCDs.

Some people are of the school of thought Circuit City has a better deal because you trade off a bit of processing speed to get a DVD burner (plus the rebate is smaller). But I'm sure CC and Best Buy are OOS by now anyway, so Office Depot is probably your best bet. Either way, these Celeron M processors are basically Core Solos with less L2 cache, so they're not bad.

Throw in a cheap 512MB SO-DIMM and you're pretty much set (more if you plan on upgrading to Vista).

Good find. Hopefully you want have to fight with OD for the rebate(rebate denied,wrong upc code when you send in the only one there is).Last time I had to take my complaint to their corp. office to resolve,that was for a $150 rebate.
