I hope to god that the BB store I work at sells through all of these damn things before I go back to work on Tuesday. Selling cheap laptops below cost with absolutely no attachments makes me sick to my stomach.

Does anyone know if they'll be offering no interest financing on this?
Yes, this week there is 12-month no-interest financing w/ Best Buy card.

also, if you ask at the register, there is a coupon that they can scan making it 24month interest free

BB employees,

I think I might return my Toshiba laptop (1.5 hours battery life sucks).

What can I do/say to avoid paying the restocking fee?

How many times do you need to say no? The makers of the Manchurian Candidate could take a lesson from BB supervisors.

And I did not feel sorry for him - I felt sorry for myself !!

Guy who was my "assistant" in BB was over-pushy and annoying trying to sell me warranties, bags, accessories - everything! Asked me a lot of personal questions. And when I stopped him, he behaved like I had to listen all this useless info.
Only when I promised to complain his manager (after 20 min or so), he brought the laptop.

Great store - and not so good experience this time.
The lesson - never be polite with salespeople! They don't see difference between polite and weak.

BTW, I needed to use 100$ Gift card, otherwise I would buy it online...

Did you use a credit card with any kind of rewards program to purchase the notebook (e.g. cash back)? If so, don't lose your purchase reward by returning it - Fleabay it!

But I would advise that you wait a few weeks until the insuing glut of them being listed on Ebay begins to wane.

Yeah I got $40 BB GC's through RewardZone. I might keep the laptop because I keep it plugged in 99% of the time. So the suck ass battery life doesn't really affect me.

If this had SXGA, it wouldn't be that bad of a laptop.

How difficult is it to get a refund on a 2 year service plan ($99) within the first 3 or 14 days?

I couldn't say, but I do believe its transferrable one time. This could be something you advertise as a selling point on Ebay (e.g. "Two Year Extended Warranty Protection - $99 value!")

it shouldn't be difficult to return the PSP... just bring in your receipt and brouchure and your credit card and they should be able to take it right off your cc.

If I decide to keep the laptop - I'll probably keep the PSP.

If I decide to sell it, this could be a selling point -or- I could get a $99 refund.

What would you do?

Best buy has a thing called devo... where if an item is still during the manufactor warrenty and it's a "devo item" we can send it back to the manufactor and get credited for it.... so a lot of times if a laptop has PSP and its in the first year and devo - we don't even repair it... we just send it back and you get a new one... after year one though they can't do that

What would you do?

Get the extended warranty and accidental coverage on Toshiba's website. That's what I did.

First, I played around with the display model and tried the sound - I thought the built-in speakers were very weak. I know laptop sound is not that good anyway but I can't imagine how I'd enjoy listening to music or a DVD with this thing. I would be interested if anyone has a contrary opinion.

Second, I clicked on Quicken to look at it and I noticed it took awhile to load. Maybe it is the 256MB of ram but should a 2.7 Celeron have noticeable lag when switching between programs?

I keep waiting for some featherweight laptop with a Mobile Pentium chip to come down under $1,000 but I guess I have a long wait on that.

I would probably buy this if I really needed a laptop for just the basics like browse, email and type up letters.

-Tom

People with laptops use headphones to listen to there DVD's music etc... All laptops suffer from tiny crippled sounding speakers.

I am pissed off. It is only a $150 MIR, the other $150 is a Gift Card, so actually the laptop is $749. The rest is guaranteed money for BB, which I do not consider a rebate, plus you have to mail off for it.

Where did you see that one is for a gift card? The online rebate forms both show as $150 mail-in-rebates, not gift cards. Do the in-store ones say something different?

You'd better be wrong because I have a copy of the BB ad which shows $599 after two $150 MIR's.

Unless you're referring to a CURRENT deal (after the two $150 MIR's expired)?

No, read the label at the store, one is a Mail in rebate (check) the other is a Mail in rebate (gift card).

My rebate receipt even says

REBATE: $150.00
REBATE GIFT CARD

They are considering the $150 gift card as "cash back" so that makes it $599.

The label at the store went like this.

$899.99
-$150 (check)
-$150 (gift card)
=_______
$599.99

good deal..i went and saw it but didn't come back with it...was a bit too heavy for me and some other features i didn't like...but great for an average user who wants portability every now and then.

i don't like rebates though...especially ones that are greater than $100. btw, BB has said that you can exchange the gift card for cash at a local BB once you get it in the mail so technically you are getting cash back but only if you follow the rules and wait 6 to 8 weeks without any lost mail.

I'm also curious about this, is the mobo socket 370 or socket 478? If I can replace the Celeron with a P4 I'm gonna be all over this.

Great price even if it is socket 370...
