toshiba p25 at circuit city

circuit city is selling the toshiba p25 (17" widescreen p4 with hyper-threading) for $300 off:

i just ordered one online last night, and i'm picking it up today. i was just wondering if anyone has any comments about this model or about toshiba laptops in general. thanks for your input!

Looks like a Desktop P4 CPU, doesnt say M in the specs. Also, you can always customize a dell with a 64MB radeon, 1.4 Centrino, with floppy drive, for around $1500 shipped. And there's a $100 rebate or something. The only thing I like about this lappy, is it comes with Geforce FX, however it is 32MB *shared*. Therefore, I would either from costco, since they have the 6 month trial period, or I'd buy from Dell.

I have been using a P25 for about a week. The video memory is *not* shared, that is a typo on the CC web site. It is a desktop processor, not a mobile. First discharge I got over 2.5 hours of battery life. I haven't gotten less than 2 hours yet, so it's not terrible considering the size of the notebook and a desktop processor. You can always run two batteries at once if need be.

The only negative has been that I can't find a bag for it, it's huge!! The 17" Widescreen is awesome though, going to be hard to go to something smaller if I decide not keep this.

The Blacktop series are nice bags. I have the Deluxe version with the added filing compartment...got it after none of my current laptop bags would fit my new 15" Toshiba.

Have you found the blacktop series locally? Says 1-2 weeks before shipping on that link, I'd rather buy in store if possible.

I've seen Blacktop series laptop bags at Circuit City, Staples, Office Depot, and CompUSA (enough nationwide retailers for ya? ) The standard colors are navy blue/black. The Platinum is silver/black. The Toshiba page made the Platinum sound like it was bigger, so you might want to check into that. Other than that, they look exactly the same. I see them on sale (with rebate) every now and then in the weekly ads.

well i'm messing around on my new baby right now... it's SO NICE!! i would recommend this model to anybody. the 17" wide screen display is just HUGE. can't wait to watch some DVDs on this sucker! and yes, i thought this deal was pretty good... $300 off and it includes a tv tuner! guess there's no more need to bring a tv to my college dorm!

Can you post what model hard drive and CD-RW/DVD drive is being used for the P25?
(Windows explorer - right click on hard drive, choose properties, go to hardware tab. Both hard drive and CD-RW/DVD drive brand and model #s will be listed).

The drive is a Teac DW-224E. The tv tuner CC is offering is a Hauppauge and it is not integrated on this model. The model with an integrated tuner is $1k more.

Video memory is not shared, and I'm not sure Dell offers a widescreen this big...certainly not for this price.

I also picked up one of these at CC last week. The P25-S607 (the high end 2.8Ghz model). I absolutely love it. The 1440x900 screen resolution is a little odd if you are a game player.

Definately non shared video memory (64MB on the S607).

The screen is beautiful... it's definately heavy.

and btw - thanks for the link. You just saved me another $100 with CCs price match policy... the $100 instant rebate didn't exist last week.
