Hi, I got in on this deal from Hitechcafe & bought this laptop, which looks nice, BUT it came with NO OS ,no cdrom,no modem it has a USB connector, but I don't want to buy a USB external Cdrom Coz the USB is not going to work until I installed windows right?
So..........what do you guys suggest I do to install windows from the cd I have ?
I can copy the cd to my Desktop , and I do have a laplink cable ,to connect to the laaptop lpt but what software do I use to make the 2 puters see each other? a "DOS" network is there such a thing?
I'm sure a lot of you guys bought it so let's help each other out.
Thanks

You can pop out the laptop hard drive, use an adapter to connect the laptop drive to your desktop hard drive. Then it's simply a matter of booting into Windows and copying everything you need to the laptop drive. I have a few of the necessary adapters if you're interested. Drop me a PM.

Another option if you don't have a converter, but have a parallel zip drive.

They have DOS drivers for the parallel zip. Configure a DOS boot disk w/ the zip drivers and boot from it. You can use the zip to transfer the windows install files onto the hard disk. Once they're all there, you can run the windows setup program from the hard disk. This is a good thing to do since you won't need the windows CD for installing future drivers and such.

i had the same problem with my laptop. It is old dell latitude xpi and came with no OS. this is what I did. I installed dos on it. i had 6.22 lying around in 1.4 floppys. then i installed this program call FX on it. I connected the Laptop to my desktop via a serial cable. i installed fx on my desktop. then i trasferred the directory win 98 from the Win 98 installation cd to the laptop harddrive. from there i was able to install win 98
