its called keeping my job....we are there to sell, not to stock shevles and clean. Well, Im not but some inventory and merch ppl are.
Believe it or not your customers don't care if you keep your job or get fired, it sucks to have an ESP forced down our throats everytime we shell out a bunch of money, only to try and be persuaded to fork over more. Best Buy doesn't want to make sure our products are working correctly within 3yrs, they just want the money and to make it worse the sales reps make it sound like we're morons for not paying for a one. Everything I have bought from Best Buy including a Wega, Xbox, PS2, head unit, PC (it was my first, P166 ), etc... have never needed an ESP. I've saved hundreds, am I the moron or is it the people who tried to sell me the warranties? Not saying ESP's are bad ideas, just that the pressure to buy them is irritating and condescending. They honestly work harder to sell us the warranty more than the product, which says something about the quality of what they sell. If BB threatens to fire you if you don't sell enough ESPs I would quit in a heartbeat. [/rant]
Well let me explain a few things:
1. Some customers care about me
2. PSP's are very very good in some aspects, and not very good in other aspects. With a lappy psp, you can take it in anytime in those 3 yrs and get the battery replaced free of charge.
While you may never have a prob with it, alot of folks do have issues with notebooks. Since they dont have enough R&D into them most of the time, hence Toshiba slapping their name on the s103.
3. I am not a moron for doing my job
4. I dont need my job there, I was at a point where I wanted to pick up some extra cash so I got a second job there. Now it seems I cant quit, the discount is too damn good. Markup on WEGA is ~$500ish on almost any model btw....You try telling me that savings like that arent worth a little shakedown from a manager every now and then?
5. I never, never work harder to sell the PSP than the product, unless you come and ask me for the product, and have absolutley no questions about the product.
6. Us selling PSPs doesnt necessarily mean our products are crappy, but margin is almost nothing on a lappy for $500. Now a $249 service plan, you get where Im going. Just like selling ink catridges for a Lexmark z25 printer that came with your Emachine for free. $50 printer that needs a $30 cable and $30 ink cartridge just to get it usable.
