Toshiba Satellite M30X or M40X

Hello all,

I have been looking around and can't seem to be able to make up my mind...
The M30X has a PM 725, i855 and a MR9700, the M40X has a PM 730, i915 and a MRX300 everthing is pretty much the same (except the DVR writer on the M40X has dual layer support).

Which one to get? I do plan to play a bit but is there a such a difference between the X300 and 9700 that would justify getting the M30X instead of the M40X although the last has more recent technology....

Any of you AT guys has any comments??

The M30X will get better battery life and MIGHT offer slightly better gaming performance. The X300 and the 9600 are pretty much the same GPU, and the 9700 is just an OCed 9600.

If you need dual layer support, go for the M40X. Otherwise, I don't see a big reason to not go with the M30X.

They cost exactly the same.... that's the main reason I haven't still decided!!

Does the M40X support ExpressCards or just PC Cards? (ExpressCard will be the PCI-E replacement for PC Cards, just not in use much yet)

EDIT Also, does the M40X have Gigabit Ethernet? If so, that may be valuable as you will actually get high network performance over the PCI-E bus.

Like I said they are equal except for the stated differences, both use PC-CARD and 10/100 network (didn't bother to check if they use different NIC)...
Thanks for the help guys... I tend to lean for the M30X myself, but I am still in doubt!

PS: After a bit more searching it seems that the 64MB X300 has 64bit memory bus...which agaist the 128bit of the 9700 makes a difference!
