Toslink cables

So, I finally got my new tv (Panasonic TC-P55VT50). It's fantastic. Worth every penny. Unfortunately, my old receiver (Denon AVR 3802) has no HDMI ports. Since I'm not planning on buying a new receiver any time soon I needed some additional toslink optical cables. I already had one, but needed two more. I bought a couple of cheap 1m toslink cables from Fry's. I normally get my cables from Monoprice, but this time I just wanted to have sound right away through my receiver.

Today, I go to hook up the receiver and all my peripherals. I got everything in place and the wiring snaked through the back of the new tv stand/entertainment center. I save the toslink connections for last. My old toslink cable connects with no issue. However, the new cables from Fry's will not stay in their port. Doesn't click. And yes, I've taken off the plastic caps that cover the tips! The Denon doesn't have those spring loaded doors that help keep the toslink connectors in place. They have removable plugs, which I find to be preferable.

Now, can someone on here recommend an inexpensive model on Monoprice that can do the trick? TIA

what do you mean it won't click? toslink is supposed to click lock into place. That new cable is defective, take it back.

I did just that two hours ago. I didn't bother to open the other package. Cheap (quality) cables are cheap. Looking for a recommendation, preferably from monoprice.

Cheap as in the spec doesn't call for expensive material thus should be inexpensive in the first place. The conductor is just clear plastic.

I bought these optical audio cable from monoprice. Used it to connect my TV optical out to my receiver. No problem at all.

Those are exactly what I got. I ordered a wall mount for my new 55" plasma and three of those optical audio cables. One went to the tv, one to the cable box, and one to the dvd player. When I upgrade equipment I can switch things around. However, I could not bring up the onscreen menu for the Denon 3802. I tried the component output. Maybe it has to be through the coax. Who knows? I've adjusted and moved on. Hopefully, I can afford an upgrade on the receiver by this time next year.

Here's a pic of one of the new toslink cables next to my old one. It's funny that monoprice was half the price for cables of that qualilty and twice the length than Fry's sold them for. My old cable seemed twice as good as the craptastic the "budget" ones that Fry's sold. The monoprice premium ones blow them all away.
